During a high-profile state visit to the UK, Melania Trump offered a surprising glimpse into her thoughts about the Duchess of Cambridge, with a simple five-word comment.

Melania and her husband, President Donald Trump spent two days and three nights in Britain, where they were hosted with full royal honours. Their visit began with a warm reception at Windsor Castle, where King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed them for a grand state banquet.

While President Trump later departed for diplomatic talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, Melania remained at Windsor, joining Queen Camilla and Princess Kate for a series of public engagements – and it was during these moments that her candid impression of the Duchess came to light.

The First Lady was escorted to the grounds of Frogmore House for an outing with the Duchess of Cambridge, where she participated in various activities with young Scouts, reported the Mirror.

It was on this occasion that Melania expressed her admiration for the future queen consort when one of the scouts asked if she would become the “next princess”.

Melania is reported to have smiled and gestured towards Kate, saying: “She’s the only princess here.”

Donald Trump has the unique honour of being the first US president to receive two state visits to Britain. His first visit took place in 2019 during his initial presidency, when Queen Elizabeth II was still alive and Theresa May was Prime Minister, reports the Irish Mirror.

Mr Trump voiced his own sentiments through an off-microphone comment that revealed his view of King Charles.

During their stay, the Trumps participated in a state banquet alongside senior Royal Family members at St George’s Hall. Prior to the formal addresses, Mr Trump, 79, was observed engaging in conversation with the King.

Lip-reader Jeremy Freeman indicates that an exchange between the pair, beyond the reach of microphones, demonstrated Trump’s respect for the 76-year-old sovereign. The President was apparently heard telling the King: “It’s so incredible, it’s what you do so well.”

During his banquet address, Mr Trump conveyed his appreciation for being invited back for a second state visit, calling it the “highest honour” of his life.

The President also praised the so-called “special relationship” between the United Kingdom and the United States, declaring that the phrase “does not begin to do it justice”.

Following his return to the USA, Mr Trump has been effusive in his praise for the hospitality shown by the Royal Family and the UK throughout his visit.

Addressing journalists in Washington DC, he described King Charles as “a wonderful guy.”

The President also remarked that he had witnessed “more paintings than any human being has ever saw during his tour.”

He continued: “I got to know him (Charles) very well. I knew him before, but now I know him a little better. I knew Charles as a prince and now I know him as a king and he’s doing very well.

“They treated us great. They treated our country great. I view that as being really respect for our country, the way they did it, because last night was beautiful.”

Mr Trump further commented that his wife Melania greatly enjoyed her time with the Duchess of Cambridge, whom he described as “a very wonderful person”.
