Relations between Prince William and his younger brother have reached rock bottom, with the future King choosing not to meet Prince Harry during his recent four-day trip to the UK.

However, there was once a period when the siblings shared a close bond, and they remained on cordial terms when Meghan and Harry discovered she was expecting their son Archie.

Rather unexpectedly, the Sussexes chose to share their joyful announcement on the very same day as their cousin Princess Eugenie’s nuptials in October 2018.

Harry revealed details of that moment in his memoir Spare, penning: “Euge was getting married to Jack, and we were deliriously happy for her, and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favourite people.

“Meg and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding. Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news.”, reports the Mirror.

He went on: “After the drinks reception, in St George’s Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said ‘we must tell Kate’.

“She was across the room, talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I’d hoped.”

Harry also revealed the touching moment they informed his father, King Charles, remembering: “He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time, his wide smile warmed me.”

Only last week, Harry reunited with his father King Charles for the first time since February 2024. It was a fleeting encounter that lasted 55 minutes.

It’s believed that, despite conducting duties in close proximity to one another, there was no encounter between Harry and his older brother William, with the heir reportedly having no desire to see his alienated sibling.

Following his departure from the UK, Harry journeyed to Ukraine – and there he once more grabbed headlines when he conducted a rare sit-down interview.

During the discussion with The Guardian, Harry maintained that his “conscience is clear” after releasing his explosive memoir Spare, claiming that he did not air his “dirty laundry in public”.

He stated: “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.

“I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”

The Duke went on to reveal that his wife, Meghan, has always advocated for honesty, stating: “She said, ‘Just stick to the truth’. It is the thing I always fall back on. Always. And if you think like that, who would be stupid enough to lie? It takes up too much time and effort.”
