Priscilla Presley is gearing up for the Sept. 23 release of her memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis. She’s been busy promoting the new book and excerpts of its inside pages have been published by various media outlets.

On Sept. 20, The U.S. Sun published some of the writings of Priscilla, particular to her feelings on her late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s relationship with Michael Jackson.

“I was appalled by the marriage,” Priscilla writes in her book, per the outlet. “I asked her if they had a physical relationship. Like so many people, I wasn’t sure. She said ‘yeah.'”

Lisa Marie started hanging out with Jackson in 1992, with things turning romantic over the next couple of years. By May 1994, the two had tied the knot.

“I knew in my bones that Michael wasn’t marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty,” she continued, adding, “Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it. The childlike innocence he projected was part of his public mask.”

When Lisa Marie filed for divorce after two years, Priscilla was relieved. In her book, she wrote that she “could practically hear Elvis sigh with relief,” after the marriage ended.

Interestingly, in her own book, which was released posthumously, Lisa Marie wrote about her relationship with the King of Pop.

“Michael said, ‘I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children,'” Lisa Marie wrote in From Here to the Great Unknown, which was released on Oct. 8, 2024 (via People). “I didn’t say anything immediately, but then I said, ‘I’m really flattered, I can’t even talk.’ By then, I felt I was in love with him too.”

Jackson died in June 2009 due to acute propofol intoxication. Lisa Marie died in January 2023 after she went into cardiac arrest. She was just 54-years-old.
