King Charles caught between sons in royal rift?
King Charles is said to be growing weary of Prince William’s “self-righteous intractability” in the ongoing family rift and “desperately misses” his youngest son, Prince Harry, according to royal author Tina Brown.
Brown, a respected biographer and former Vanity Fair editor who was close to Princess Diana, wrote in the New York Times that the monarch hopes to “re-embrace Harry” — but only if the Duke of Sussex refrains from publicly criticizing the Royal Family.
According to Daily Mail, her comments followed a 54-minute meeting between Charles and Harry at Clarence House during the duke’s visit to London on September 10, which she described as “the fulfilment of paternal longing.”
However, Brown suggested the reconciliation effort has further strained relations with Prince William, who remains “enraged” at his brother’s actions and reportedly views his public appearances in Britain and Ukraine as attempts to upstage him.
Royal sources dismissed speculation that Harry could return in any “half-in, half-out” role to share the workload, with one insider telling the outlet, “Whoever is behind these briefings seems to have mistaken a brief tea and a slice of cake for the Treaty of Versailles.”
Despite suggestions that Harry may attend public events in the UK “four or five times a year,” aides are said to be concerned that such moves risk creating further divisions between the King and his heir.
As per the publication, Harry has maintained that his “conscience is clear” after speaking out against the Royal Family in interviews, documentaries, and his memoir Spare.
