Although Prince Harry was not one of the family members included in the funeral, it is significant that he made time to see Prince Edward in his busy schedule. The Prince’s four-day visit to Britain saw the Duke of Sussex speak at the Wellchild Awards ceremony, visit a community recording studio in Nottingham, donate £1.1 million to Children in Need and attend an event supporting the Invictus Games.

Harry’s most significant engagement while in the UK was, however, undoubtedly the 54-minute ‘private tea’ he shared with his father at Clarence House – marking the first time King Charles had seen his youngest son in 19 months. Ahead of Harry’s visit to Britain, an unnamed insider told The Mirror that, while ‘nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved,’ there was a ‘genuine sense that reconciliation is within reach’ for the father and son. It came after the Duke’s BBC interview in May, when he said that he would ‘love a reconciliation with my family’, and added that he did not know how much longer King Charles had left to live.
