During an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, released Wednesday, Sept. 24, host Alex Cooper asked the “Pretty & Petty” rapper about the craziest rumors she has ever heard about herself.
“There’s a rumor that my boyfriend dumped me because my BBL stink,” Cardi B, 32, responded, referencing her partner, NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and the Brazilian butt lift procedure commonly known as a BBL.
Cardi B appeared on the podcast to promote her highly anticipated second studio album, “Am I The Drama?” (streaming now). During her weekslong press tour, she has been candid about her relationship with Diggs, even announcing that they are expecting a child together.
On “Call Her Daddy,” the “Bodega Baddie” songstress denied the allegations, noting she’s “very, very” particular “about how I smell. You know what I’m saying?”
“I don’t know who made the rumors that BBLs stink, but it doesn’t … stink. How will a BBL stink if you have no open wounds?” she continued.
What is ‘BBL smell’?
Brazilian butt lifts are a popular surgical procedure where liposuctioned fat is taken from one part of the body and redistributed to the buttocks region.
Experts have explained that a so-called “BBL smell” could be due to several factors, including infection, poor hygiene, or bacteria, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
“The BBL smell is not due to the surgery itself, but rather a consequence of the postoperative recovery,” Dr. Michael Keyes of Celebrity Plastics in Florida said in an interview on the ASPS website.
It can occur due to “bacterial overgrowth on the skin due to moisture, heat and friction,” Keyes said, adding that poor hygiene can play a role “during recovery … due to mobility limitations.”
Cardi B shares funny story about her body piercing
While on “Call Her Daddy,” Cardi B also shared a story about piercing her derriere. She posted on social media about getting the intimate piercing in January.
The Bronx, New York, native explained that it was not painful due to numbness from a previous surgery, and it cost her $13,000 because she used a real diamond.
“Guess what?” she said about the piercing. “It went down the toilet.”
