Recent speculation and reports have indicated that relations between Prince William and King Charles are, at times, somewhat strained.
Whilst certain Royal insiders have rejected suggestions that the monarch and his heir aren’t currently on good terms, more than one source has acknowledged that over the years tensions have occasionally surfaced between them – despite agreeing on most issues.
One expert recently disclosed that “angry rows” have been witnessed by palace staff between father and son – even penetrating the “thick palace walls”.
The speculation emerges as the Duke of Sussex is reportedly starting the reconciliation process with Charles, with whom relations had been frosty for some time, though no such rapprochement appears imminent between Harry and his elder brother.
Relations haven’t always been smooth between Charles and William, Royal expert Rebecca English explained, writing for the Mail Online, reports the Mirror.
The bitter collapse of Charles’s first marriage to William’s mother, Princess Diana, created lasting friction between father and son over the years.

Given the difficulties the late Diana endured during her lifetime, and her anguish over Charles’s continuing relationship with Camilla throughout their marriage, this is perhaps unsurprising.
“Harsh words have been exchanged in the past, angry rows permeating even the thickest castle walls, sometimes within earshot of staff,” the expert writes. “There have also been clashes of opinion on the professional side, such as the retention of ivory treasures in the Royal Collection (William wants to burn them, Charles believes they should be kept as historical artefacts), which not so long ago resulted in a ‘frank’ exchange.”
A palace insider speaking anonymously to the Standard recently mirrored these views, observing that William and Charles have consistently maintained a “tricky relationship”.
To such an extent that “William never phones his Dad directly but has to schedule a call through the King’s private office”.
Buckingham Palace refused to respond when approached by the Mirror.
In Prince Harry’s explosive autobiography Spare, he also highlighted that witnessing his father and brother getting along rather than “squabbling” was a memorable moment, when he reunited with them following Prince Philip’s funeral, just weeks after his and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Nevertheless, sources have told the Mail that William and Charles are not feuding any more than typically, and that whilst they might not meet with great frequency, “but they never have” and remain in “lockstep about the future of the monarchy”.
