Prince Harry is clearing the air about his relationship with his father, King Charles.

After British publication the Sun ran a report alleging that Harry felt more like an “official visitor” than a family member during a recent visit to the Clarence House royal residence in London, Harry’s reps issued a rare statement to People dispelling the story as “categorically false.”

“Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false,” the statement read. (Harry is “The Duke,” in case you didn’t get that part.) “The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.”

What gifts, you may ask? Well, the Sun’s original article apparently suggested that Harry had given Charles a framed family photograph during the meeting — and Harry’s reps did confirm that such an exchange took place, but not quite how the publication had framed (ha, ha) it.

“While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess,” the statement also read.

“In his statement, Prince Harry confirms the exchange of gifts, including a family photograph,” the Sun said in a separate statement to People. “The office of the Duke of Sussex was given full right of reply yesterday in advance of publication and opted not to give a response to The Sun’s carefully sourced account of the meeting. We have today updated the online article to include his new statement.”
