The John Wick series has established itself as one of the coolest movie universes today. The world building is detailed and every criminal organization comes with unique characters, structures, and rules. There are two confirmed spin-offs in the works. Ballerina Continent. Right now, we’ll talk about ballerina. If you’ve seen John Wick chapter 3 Parabellum, then you’ll already have a hint of what this movie is about. Yeah, the ballet training facility at the Ruskar Roma headquarters is one of the main settings. Ruskar Roma is the criminal organization where John Wick trained when he was young. The boss is the director played by Angelica Houston. In Ballerina, Anna de Armas plays Rooney, a ballerina who trains in Ruskar Roma. At the 2022 Comic-Con experience, Kiana Reeves sneak peek of the plot. Someone killed her father. Who could that be? And so, it’s her journey to actually understand her past. She lost her father at a young age, and she doesn’t really know what happened. Only that someone came into the house and killed her father who had a tattoo. In the John Wick universe, tattoos have a special meaning just like Jon’s. So, it looks like ballerina is going to be all about Rooney. She trains as a ballerina in Ruskar Roma until she becomes an assassin. Ballerina is set between John Wick 3 and four. So, we’ll get to see Rooney find clues about the killer’s tattoo. This will be the start of her journey to uncover the truth about her father’s death. We do notice that the plot of Ballerina is not particularly special. After all, we’ve seen gazillion action movies about a person seeking revenge for their parents’ death. Plus, the character of Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, shares similarities with the protagonist in this film. So, what makes Ballerina worth watching? First, the lead actress Ana Armos is really making a name for herself lately after appearing in some cool movies like Bladeunner 2049 and Knives Out. You might also recognize her from her action-packed performance in James Bond’s No Time To Die or her tragic portrayal in Blonde, which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Anna seems perfectly suited for an action film. Secondly, some familiar faces from the John Wick franchise like Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, and Lance Reic have already confirmed that they’ll be in Ballerina. Plus, there are some new faces like Gabriel Burn and Norman Reedas. And let’s not forget about the director, Len Wisman, who you might know from the Kate Beckansel underworld franchise. Although some people are concerned that Wiseman is not as good as Chad Stelski, Wiseman does have an experience in handling a femaleled action franchise and he has the support system that has created the brutal and bloody action choreography of John Wick. But what about the stunt scenes? Well, Keanu Reeves himself has praised Anna’s performance in Ballerina, saying there’s a reason for Jon to be in ballerina. It’s very organic and working with Anna was great. She really loves action and she’s really good at it. That’s high praise, but it’s not like Anna had an easy job. During an interview with Jimmy Fallon, she admitted that filming in Prague with Keanu was tough. But seeing Keanu never complain inspired her to push through the pain. I’m in pain. You know, my body, my back, everything hurts. I’m complaining. I’m sore. I’m bruised. Well, Bond was 15 minutes. This is a whole movie, another level. But the other day, Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing these crazy stunts. And I’m like, I can’t complain anymore. I’m done. Wow. Now, we’re very curious just how brutal this movie is going to be. Unlike John Wick, whose simple goal is retirement, Ballerina is about an outsider trying to get inside the system. John Wick is a 2014 American action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad. Keanu Reeves stars as John Wick, a legendary hitman who comes out of retirement to seek revenge against the men who killed his dog, a final gift from his recently deceased wife. The film also stars Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe.
Kolstad’s script drew on his interest in action, revenge, and neo noir films. The producer Basil Iwanyk purchased the rights as his first independent film production. Reeves, whose career was declining, liked the script and recommended that the experienced stunt choreographers Stahelski and David Leitch direct the action scenes; Stahelski and Leitch successfully lobbied to co-direct the project. Principal photography began in October 2013, on a $20–$30 million budget, and concluded that December. Stahelski and Leitch focused on highly choreographed and long single takes to convey action, eschewing the rapid cuts and closeup shots of contemporary action films.

Ana Celia de Armas Caso (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈana ˈselja ðe ˈaɾmas ˈkaso]; born 30 April 1988) is a Cuban and Spanish actress. She began her career in Cuba with a leading role in the romantic drama Una rosa de Francia (2006).
