It’s not every day you expect to see Prince William sipping pints and scooting around Windsor Castle, but in a new documentary episode, the future King does just that.
Taking viewers behind-the-scenes at Windsor Castle, Prince William joins Schitt’s Creek star, Eugene Levy, on his TV show: The Reluctant Traveler. In the royal episode, which airs on Apple TV later this week, the Prince of Wales gives fans a rare, uncensored peek into his private life and opens up about the past year, which he describes as his “hardest” yet.
Strolling – and e-scooting – around Windsor Castle with Eugene, William is joined by his family dog, Orla, and jokes that the royals “provide this service for everyone, we do personalised tours everywhere”. Next, they head to a local pub, where William delves into the impact the last year and a half (which saw both his wife and father diagnosed with cancer) has had on him.

“I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” the royal confesses. “You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.” This echoes comments he made last November, in which he said: “Honestly, it’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.”
“I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done,” he went on at the time. “But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
Elsewhere in the episode with Eugene, William touches on lighter topics and gives a rare insight into his experience of being father to three children. “What do you do when you’re home?” the presenter asks him, to which he replies, with a smile: “Sleep… when you’ve got three small children, sleep is an important part of life.”
