Emily Blunt, Simu Liu speak out against AI-generated actress

This morning, Hollywood actors are speaking out, responding to reports that multiple talent agencies are interested in signing an AI actress. I’m built on everything that came before me. Tilly Norwood might seem like any other aspiring actress. She has an Instagram page showing off her screen tests alongside candid moments. Tilly Norwood, 100% AI generated. She even posted this video on Facebook, what she says features her first on camera role. Let’s get to know each other and thanks for watching. But Tilly Norwood is not a real actress. She’s a character generated by artificial intelligence. Her creator says she’s getting very real attention. Elaine Vanderved runs the AI talent company that made Tilly. She says, “When we first launched Tilly, people were like, “What’s that? And now we’re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her.” But that announcement not sitting well with many Hollywood stars. Emily Blunt saying, “This is really, really scary. Come on, agencies, don’t do that.” Marvel star Simu saying, “Movies are great, but you know what would be better is if the characters in them weren’t played by actual humans, but by AI replicas approximating human emotion.” You are suddenly up against something that’s been generated with 5,000 other actors. It’s been given all of these, you know, it’s got Betty Davis’s attitude. It’s got this one. It’s got Humphrey Bogart’s. So, it’s a little bit of an unfair advantage. Vandervellin insists Tilly is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work, a piece of art. AI characters should be judged as part of their own genre on their own merits rather than compared directly with human actors. But just a few months ago, Vanderved said she wanted Tilly to be the next Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johansson. The Vandervelddon believes audiences just care about the story, not whether the star has a pulse and claims studios are quietly moving forward with AI projects and to even expect more announcements in the coming months. Just the beginning. Okay, but you’re going to be real on GMA3, right? You’re I am real. This is real right now. We’ll be back for that. Good to be here. Wonderful to have you in the studio. Usually, you know, thank you so much. It’s so good to be here with you all. Good to have you in the country. the best figure in the UK. Good boy, my friend.

  1. A.I. can give actors a chance to make their own characters instead of becoming the characters someone gave them. Bycyles to Cars. It's just something to think about. I didn't like a.i. anything until I started making my own content with it. I'll tell you right now a.i. is not a replacement for humans. Trust me. It's not as advanced as you think.

  2. I see a lot of AI generated videos now on YouTube and unless it’s something absurd like AI generated aliens I can’t tell the difference. With AI, movie studios don’t need actors, camera operators, lighting experts etc. Why should movie investors pay a hundred million to make a movie when AI can do it for 5 million? If I was in the movie production business I would be concerned.

  3. Could it make sense to treat these AI pieces of art basically as cartoon characters? They obviously can't have any of the same real-world interaction and chemistry with real people. They can't respond to touch or practical effects. It's ridiculous for the creators of an AI entity to say they want her to be the next Natalie Portman when it would make more sense to be the next Babs Bunny.

  4. These actors and actresses dump on us for not embracing progress. Well as progress comes to their world they should shut up and embrace it. They have made everything that was good and normal insignificant so why not their talent.

  5. Absolutely hate fake.. she’s fake!! She has no substance so acting will be a total flop with an avatar. It’s not a living entity so don’t use a name!

  6. I like this article, except for 2 facts
    – It didn't show case people who are making 10 millions per movie. So we are going to ignore greedy actors?
    – A.I. is happening, we can't stop it, just the reality. So instead, band together to create an a.i. platform that uses real actors data and pay them royalty for as long as the platform is used. A smart person would have come up with this idea, so why the hold up? Everybody wins in this scenario; actors gets paid and people continue to create content.

  7. There is no "AI-generated actress". If you believe this story you also believe Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny are real. This is nothing more than a CGI character that would need to be added in post like every computer generated graphics added to a movie happening for decades.

  8. I would like producers, agents, and managers to seek out undiscovered human talent. I'm certain that there are many people out there just like me striving to work in the film and TV industry. The industry should have more scouts that track down new talent on every platform out there. We're out there working full-time jobs and just wanting a shot. AI isn't going away, but it should be used wisely and responsibly.

  9. All AI movie and related materials should be labeled with Big Characters "AI Generated" to let consumer know. That is the right of Consumer. Do not put Small Print or at the end of movie. 😊
