‘It’s been quite a bit of change, so you do sort of, you think about them not being here anymore, and particularly being in Windsor, for me Windsor is her,’ William said. ‘She loved it here, she spent most of her time here. Showing you around today is very much a case of trying to make sure I’m doing it in the way she’d want you to see it. She had her horses here as well, as you can imagine, that was a big deal for her so that’s why she loved it here.’
Prince William and Kate Middleton moved their family to the grounds of Windsor in the summer of 2022, in part to spend more time with the Queen in the later years of her life. Sadly, she died just a few weeks later at Balmoral Castle, but the Waleses have fallen in love with the Berkshire estate to the extent that they are making it their forever home. The royals are confirmed to be upping sticks from Adelaide Cottage to the larger Forest Lodge, a Grade II-listed, eight-bedroom home on the estate, in which they plan to be settled by Christmas.
