Was Miley Cyrus The First Person To Ever Be ‘CANCELED’?

Yeah, I was the first person to maybe ever be cancelled, I guess. Was Miley Cyrus the first celebrity to ever be cancelled? She seems to think so. In a preview for an upcoming CBS Sunday Morning interview, Miley reflected on how difficult the transition out of being a Disney star was for her and how she characterizes the disapproval from parents of her fans. When you were able to have perspective, what did you think of all I mean, there were moms that were trying to, I guess, cancel you. Yeah, I was the first person to maybe ever be cancelled, I guess. And although Miley now calls the backlash to her rebrand quote brutal, the Flowers singer notes that at the time she was too busy to realize how far it had gone. How would you describe that time in your life? Well, you know, I didn’t know until I was older actually how brutal it really was cuz it was very, I guess, you know, challenging for other people, but for me it was a good time. It looked fun and it was fun. And it was fun and it was fun. So it wasn’t until I was older that I realized how harsh and uh you know it just I would I would never now being where I am ever look at someone in their 20s from the view of who I am now, you know. So I I think it was that. But at the time it was awesome. Yeah. Miley Cyrus led the Disney Channel hit Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2011. And after the show ended, some of her less PG choices, such as a scantily clad performance with Robin Thick at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards and more mature music releases, drew criticism from some parents who felt she wasn’t a good influence for kids who followed her beyond Disney. During a June 6th appearance on the Ringer podcast every single album, Miley opened up about growing out of that era of her life, saying, quote, “I started doing things that Hannah wouldn’t be doing because it’s like a Barbie, you know, she’s just like she’s kind of sexless in that way. And I started, you know, living, we shall call it.” I remember one of the directors was like, “It’s like now the lion’s been let out of the cage and it’s like seen where it’s come from and you’re going to have a really hard time walking yourself back into the zoo.
