Keira Knightley Talks The Traitors Obsession — And If She’d Ever Play
It happens a lot though, doesn’t it? You are insane. Wouldn’t watch my own movie. That would be weird. Thank you for terrifying me for ever going on a cruise again, guys. No problem. I mean, was that was that the aim, Simon? Yeah, mostly. It was just like, why do people pay money to be out at sea? Uh, that was the main question I wanted to leave an audience’s minds. Really? No. I was gonna say you did really well. There you go. No, I I mean I I think that I think that what’s fun I mean that’s the Agatha Christie thing, isn’t it? You know, like which the film kind of starts in that zone of of the most kind of beautiful environment can have something very sinister underneath it. Um but I think also being trapped somewhere. Yeah, that’s and you go so you’re trapped. You’re in the middle of nowhere and if you’re my character, you know somebody is a murderer and you’re trapped with them on a boat. Yeah. I mean, that’s the that’s the stuff of nightmares and nobody believes you. Well, I was going to say, does that resonate now in this day and age that someone doesn’t believe you? Cuz honestly, that’s one of my biggest fears. That and spider spiders. Yeah. Oh my god, I’m absolutely terrible. Thank goodness there none of those at sea. Yeah. People not believing you. It’s terrifying the prospect. Do you think so? I mean, yeah, it happens a lot, though, doesn’t it? You know, I’m thinking of traitors. I’m watching traitors. You know what I mean? You’re like, you watch them all and they’re like, I’m not a traitor. You know, I had that in my head a lot when I was doing this. You go, I’m I am innocent. And the more you say you’re innocent, the more somebody goes, I think you’re lying. And that’s I mean, that’s what this is. The more she says, I saw somebody go off the boat, everybody goes, you are insane. And I think again the amazing thing of a character who has the strength to go no I know what I saw and I’m I’m absolutely even though everybody hates me and everybody’s telling me I’m nuts I know what I saw. Amazing. Very strong. There is a celebrity trait. Can we get you as a last minute edition? I’m all right. Thank you very much. I love watching it though. Would you be any good at that kind of thing? I think I mean the rest of the cast actually played traitors when we were in Scotland. They did. They did. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They actually played their own game of traitors and they I I believe Netflix has the footage of their version of traitors. Uh I know who won but I’m not going to say. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. So, but I mean look, I I think the I think that that nightmare of comparing your own memories or your own kind of empirical experience with other people’s version of events is like having to constantly question yourself because she’s a journalist. She has to do that. She has to go, do am I right? Yes, I am. Am I right? And if she were ever to go, there’s not enough evidence for me to keep, you know, pursuing this like a dog with a bone, then I will stop. But she keeps finding a little bit more. That’s the, you know, the plot of the film is she will not give up, will she? No. But she keeps she gets keeps getting like if she didn’t find a whole heap of things that she does on the way, then I think she might go, “Maybe I was drunk. Maybe I was drunk.” or or there, you know, or it was some kind of weird spiritual thing that I am I’m I now need to go to or or become or or become a spiritualist or someone who connects with the afterlife or whatever like you know like I think there I think but she keeps seeing and stupidly someone writes on a mirror and and says stop doing this uh thereby kind of misunderstanding the fundamental character of low, which is I’m I’m going to do exactly the opposite of what you’re recommending in that mirror cuz you’ve just shown yourself. If I was going to be stuck on a boat, I’d love it to be with Neighbor’s very own Guy Pierce. I mean, was I would just wouldn’t even know. I would be so excited. I mean, he’s a lovely person to be stuck on a boat with. Also totally happy to talk about neighbors. Yeah. Is he? Yeah. Yeah, you’re both bit too young for remember Mike actually in it. I think I do remember it. The problem was I was growing up in the wrong country. I was in Switzerland and Neighbors didn’t make it to Switzerland. Oh, but if I’d been growing up here, I would totally You see, I I did watch Neighbors, but I think after he’d already left. I think just after he left. Just after he left. So, I did miss him in Neighbors. I got him in Priscilla Queen of the Desert. I’ve now worked with both Jason Donovan as an actor when I was an actor at one of the first big TV shows that that that I was a semi-regular on. Jason Donovan was a regular on. Nice. Uh now I’ve worked with Guy Pierce. Haven’t wor with Kylie yet. Get Kylie on the next one. That would be Can we get her on maybe the the spin-off of this sequel murder murder on a pedal or something? She Kylie popping up. It’s going to be amazing. She could be singing as well. And could you cope without Wi-Fi? Without Wi-Fi? They’re so happy without Wi-Fi. I I have recently So, I just I just broke the seal on something that I I used to do, which was whenever I was on a plane, I would not do the Wi-Fi option. And I just started the Wi-Fi option. Are you enjoying it? Oh, it’s so good. Cuz I love I hate watching movies on planes cuz I love watching movies on planes. It’s my favorite. It makes them all amazing. And I cry so much that literally people come over to me and go like, “Are you okay?” I love I love that part. I love that. I love that part of it. Uh but as someone who has just been making a movie trying to make sure it looks good on any screen like it’s just like that is terrible. Why would And it’s like 20 generations old as well. Uh but I read the newspaper and so it’s amazing to kind of find and when people are like hey can you meet there and there and there was like can’t right now I’m on a plane over Kazakhstan and that feels quite it’s quite cool quite quite cool. Thank you so much guys and I’d love to be on a plane watching you watch your own movies crying. That’d be amazing. I wouldn’t watch my own movie. That would be weird. Don’t know which one. A movie on. Oh, I love it. Mostly something like Ratatouille. Like Rat. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [Music]

She told us about not being believed and the fact her character was strong enough to keep on persisting even though people thought she was mad in Netflix’s new thriller, The Woman In Cabin 10. .
