Fans are accusing Kylie Jenner of being “deeply out of touch” with reality over her latest promo for Kylie Cosmetics.
In the clip, which she posted on Instagram on Saturday, October 11, the makeup mogul, 28, is handcuffed and being led down a corridor by two police officers.
And while fans on Instagram were thrilled by the Kardashians star’s new makeup release, Reddit commentators slammed the video for its insensitivity, amid ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids and protests across the country.
“Citizens are being dragged off by rogue badge hungry rent-a-cops and Kylie Jenner drops a handcuffed hot-pants photoshoot to promote COSMETICS. This isn’t satire; it’s American rot,” wrote one.
Others called the move “insanely disgusting,” “gross” and “unbelievably tone-deaf.” Added another, “KYLIE YOUR PRIVILEGE IS SHOWING.”

One commenter noted the similarities to Kendall Jenner’s 2017 Pepsi ad, which was pulled after one day following outcry over its appropriation of Black Lives Matter imagery. “Is she actually trying to recreate the same controversy Kendall went through?” they wrote.
Another compared the ad to Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle ad, which also sparked outrage. “I think it’s intentional, after they saw how Sydney Sweeney got so much attention,” wrote the commenter. “Shock value holds so much weight in marketing.”
