Princess Eugenie has candidly spoken about a significant shift in her personal life, one that many mothers can empathise with. In a rare comment on becoming a parent, the 35-year-old royal revealed how this change completely altered her perspective on life.

The princess shared this revelation at Simon Cowell’s fundraising event for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH), which has raised an impressive £1.1m for children receiving specialist care at the London hospital.

The star-studded event took place in the Cotswolds and attracted several high-profile guests, including Eugenie’s sister Princess Beatrice and brother-in-law Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who own a farmhouse in the area.

In a conversation with Hello! Magazine, Princess Eugenie expressed why she felt it was crucial to lend her support. “It was very important for me to support Simon, Lauren [Silverman] and Saskia [Johnston] today,” she stated.

“I think what GOSH is doing for children is fantastic. Having two children of my own, you just see how much it changes you as a person to be a mum, and now it means more to me than ever to support those with children who are unwell. I am so honoured to be here today and support the charity.”

Eugenie, along with her husband Jack Brooksbank – a British marketing executive – tied the knot in 2018 and are parents to two sons; August, born in 2021, and Ernest, who arrived two years later.

Echoing her sister’s sentiments, Princess Beatrice also discussed the charity’s crucial work. “The most amazing thing about GOSH is that they deliver such wonderful medical care to these children,” she expressed.

“No matter what you are doing, taking the time to focus on children’s health is the most important thing.”

Beatrice, also a mother-of-two and her husband, Edoardo, welcomed their first daughter, Sienna, in 2021 followed by Athena, who was born earlier this year. In the past, their mother Sarah Ferguson has spoken warmly about her experiences as a grandmother.

According to the publication, she previously disclosed that her residence, the Royal Lodge in Windsor, often requires a child-friendly makeover when her grandchildren come over. “When they come to the house, we have to clear all the furniture out of the way and the dogs scarper!”, she quipped. “Baby August is phenomenal – a very strong little chap. He thinks I’m hysterical!”.

Despite divorcing in 1996, the Duchess of York continues to reside at the royal property with her former spouse, Prince Andrew.

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie has claimed that this decision was made because “they are still really good friends” and wanted “to be good parents”.

In an interview with the Daily Express US, he further explained: “She of course gets all the benefits of and status of being still connected to the Royal Family.

“She can live at Royal Lodge for free, and all the benefits of cooks and stuff, and it gives her her status, which is very important to her, by means of earning of a living.”

Following recent allegations about a leaked email sent to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2011, the Duchess is reportedly keeping a low profile at the property.
