Meghan Markle gives exciting update on major Netflix deal

After months of anticipation, Meghan Markle has finally spoken about her and husband Prince Harry’s Netflix deal.

During her appearance at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington DC on October 14, the 44-year-old Duchess opened up about the new partnership that had been announced in August.

In her “Next Level Influence” session, the former actress sat down with Fortune’s Editor-in-Chief, Alyson Shontell, where she answered questions about the couple’s streaming partnership.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the streaming giant began in 2020 when they signed a five year deal soon after leaving the Royal life behind.

Netflix announced in August that it would be extending its collaboration with the Sussexes through Archewell Productions, signing a multi-year “first look” agreement for future film and television projects.

While attending the Washington DC event, Meghan shed light on her and Harry’s relationship with Netflix, revealing new information about their collaboration.

“My husband and I were in an overall deal with Netflix then, not dissimilar to Higher Ground and the Obamas’ deal, once that had come to its term, the extension of it, which was such an incredible sign of the strength of our partnership, was now being in a first-look deal,” she said.

“Which is also exciting because it gives us flexibility to go to our partners first, then at the same time, shop content that might not be the right fit for Netflix but has a home somewhere else,” the Suits alum further added.
