Meghan Markle has said that she often felt constrained in her fashion choices during her time as a member of the royal family. ‘I rarely wore colour,’ she explained in her Netflix documentary, Meghan & Harry, revealing that she didn’t want to ‘embarrass the family’ by accidentally matching tones with another, ‘more senior’ member of the Firm. And while her new era in Montecito has seen her embrace a different approach to her wardrobe, it seems that the Duchess of Sussex still has some leftover favourites from her stint with the working royals.

One of her favourite such pieces was on show in Washington, D.C this week, when she was a guest of honour at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women 2025 summit. The Duchess of Sussex certainly dressed to impress as she spoke of her journey as a businesswoman, including details about her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder and her relationship with Netflix.

Pairing a Gabriela Heart blouse with a skirt by Brochu Walker and earrings from Polène, Meghan’s shoes were the real stars of the show. The Duchess wore Dior for the summit, but these were more than simply designer heels. The shoes were custom-made by Meghan for a very special occasion: the christening of her son, Prince Archie, in 2019.

For the big day, Meghan paired the heels with a matching white dress, also from Christian Dior, as well as a white hat. The christening was a private affair, held in the private chapel of Windsor Castle, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose to deviate from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s decision to permit photographs from the service. Queen Elizabeth II had prior commitments and was thus unable to attend. The Cambridges (as they were known at the time) were among the guests, as were Princess Diana’s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.
