Kelly Clarkson was predicted to win her ninth and 10th career Daytime Emmy Awards for hosting and producing The Kelly Clarkson Show, but those trophies instead went to Drew Barrymore (Best Talk Series Host) and Live With Kelly and Mark (Best Talk Series).
The Kelly Clarkson Show did make off with two below-the-line trophies: Best Live Sound Mixing/Sound Editing and Best Lighting Direction. See the complete list of 2025 Daytime Emmys winners.
However, Clarkson didn’t attend the Friday ceremony, which took place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The three-time Grammy winner has been keeping a relatively low profile since announcing on social media that her ex-husband and talent manager Brandon Blackstock had died of melanoma on Aug. 7.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she said at the time, while thanking fans for their “grace, kindness and understanding.”

Clarkson returned to her talk show on Sept. 29 for its Season 7 premiere, but didn’t mention her ex’s death on the air. The Kelly Clarkson Show films in New York City, about 3,000 miles from Pasadena, which is likely another reason she skipped the ceremony.
The Kelly Clarkson Show previously won Best Talk Series four times (2021 to 2024) and Best Talk Series Host four times (2020 to 2023).
Per the Gold Derby data, The Kelly Clarkson Show had an 80.9 percent chance of winning the Daytime Emmy for Best Talk Series, while the actual winner, Live With Kelly and Mark only had a 7.4 percent shot. The other nominees were The Drew Barrymore Show (also at 7.4 percent), The View (2.9 percent), and The Jennifer Hudson Show (1.5 percent).
As for Best Talk Series Host, Clarkson had a leading 67.6 percent chance to prevail, compared to 8.8 percent for the winner, Drew Barrymore. Ripa and Consuelos came in at 16.2 percent, followed by the Today Show tandem of Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, and Jennifer Hudson.
