A beautiful new rose has been named after Sir David Beckham, which will debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2026. The Sir David Beckham Rose (Ausa34b16) has been 10 years in the making and was inspired by a sweet gesture from his daughter, Harper, on his 50th birthday.
The beautiful English rose has white petals with hints of blush pink and yellow, and has a complex honeyed fragrance. An Instagram post by David Austin Roses said: “Introducing Sir David Beckham (Ausa34b16), a new English Rose of rare beauty, named in honour of one of Britain’s most admired figures.
“Inspired by a touching gesture from his daughter Harper for his 50th birthday, this rose stands as a living symbol of love, legacy and admiration.”
The post also stated proceeds would go to the King’s Foundation: “From every sale, a donation of £2.50 will be made to The King’s Foundation @kingsfoundation, a cause close to David’s heart, supporting the charity’s work in education, heritage, and care for the natural world.”
The former footballer joined King Charles at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year to celebrate The King’s Rose. David was photographed alongside His Majesty wearing the unique striped rose on his suit jacket.
David Beckham has been an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, since June 2024. He supports the foundation’s mission, which focuses on education, building sustainable communities, and encouraging young people to engage with nature, which aligns with his personal interests in the countryside.
Dividing his time between the Cotswolds and London, David has swapped the pitch for planting, regularly sharing gardening updates on Instagram.
The RHS has named a rose, bred by Harkness Roses, for The Princess of Wales, to celebrate the incredible healing power of nature and raise awareness of the important role that spending time outdoors plays in bringing us joy and supporting our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
‘Catherine’s Rose’ has subtle coral-pink blooms, which are produced in abundance, and have a rich perfume with hints of Turkish delight and mango.
Earlier this year, David Beckham was knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours list, for his services to sport and charity.
