‘Ghost Hunters’ Steve Gonsalves Shares Scariest Moment in Career | E! News

We had the doors closed, come to bed, and when we woke up, they were wide open. I definitely heard footsteps upstairs. I think history and uh you know, the the personalities that lived in a place do uh work as a a big catalyst in a in a haunting. And here you have a lot of that history. You have a lot of mystery to the history. Are there, you know, skeletons in in the closets literally, you know, uh hidden passageways, maybe uh part of the the Underground Railroad? There’s been uh speculation of murder, but even what the house was used for over time. Uh the fact that he lost uh you know, his daughter Emma died in the house at just 15. Uh so much tragedy happened here that uh he started building architectural adornments like gargoyles and turrets just to distract his wife from the the grief. And sadly, you know, that that grief, that trauma, and that devotion and love is is usually uh what creates or sparks a haunting. Oh, it’s a great question. Uh for me it’s going to be a place called Waverly Hills in Louisville, Kentucky. And it was a tuberculosis hospital. Uh very sad, you know, but over a 60,000 people died in just a three-year period. They had to build a a shoot just to transport the bodies. And uh the frequency of activity there is incredibly high. And it’s always right in front of you. Uh apparitions moving around, doors slamming, things moving, voices yelling out of thin air. And uh it happens as soon as you walk in. So that place is is is really cool. The first time I ever got to Waverly Hills, I actually cried. I know it sounds silly, but uh I wanted to go there for so long and it’s so beautiful and it’s gorgeous and you come up this creepy drive with all the trees shrouding it and um when you see it just reveal itself. Uh I did I started getting emotional. It’s just absolutely beautiful. And then you start to think of, you know, the the the sadness that that happened there and the grief and and you get a little emotional, but uh I thought it was fantastic and and uh uh to be honest with you, I fell, you know, I just ran as fast as I could to the front door, fell down. I couldn’t wait to get in. Uh but yeah, it was my first time. I love that place. You know, I I think that is a healthy way to think quite honestly. Uh skeptics, and I am a skeptic. I have a very skeptical mindset and I do investigate that way. We try to disprove hauntings. I think they keep us sharp. They keep us on our toes. They they keep us really pushing ourselves and looking uh for bigger, better, and and more solid evidence. Um so I think they’re pretty important. You know, I I think they sometimes go a little too far and might close themselves out on a lot of things that could, you know, enrich their lives quite a bit. But, uh I I accept it. I I say, “Hey, uh, what we’re dealing with here is quite fantastic. Uh, and you shouldn’t just believe in it.” You know, if I tell you I saw someone standing right in front of me and they just disappeared and they were missing a head and an arm, you shouldn’t just go, “Oh, that’s cool.” and believe me. You should say, “Wait a second. What did you see?” You know? So, I I I think that it’s it’s pretty important. [Music]
