[Music] Elizabeth Olsen always knew she wanted to act, but not on a child star level like her famous older sisters Mary Kate and Ashley. Elizabeth told InStyle, remembering how she missed the Nutcracker Ballet because she was busy auditioning for TV and film roles. She said, “I thought I wanted to be a child actor. I wanted to have the career I have now, but I didn’t need to do it until later. Though she appeared in a few cameos in her sister’s projects as a kid, her breakout moment came much later in 2011 with the indie thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene at Sundance. Elizabeth admits she was confused by the attention. She said, “I thought everyone was insane, like they’ve been drinking Kool-Aid I’d never tried.” The Marvel star admits that early in her career, she sometimes worked with people who weren’t the best fit. She said, “I didn’t realize I have the power of curation. I was so excited anyone wanted me to be in anything. Now, with a career she loves, Elizabeth values her privacy. She and husband Robbie Arnett famously kept their marriage under wraps for 2 years while sparking headlines about their secret wedding. She laughed and said, “Why is it a secret? I eloped. You just didn’t know about it.” Elizabeth says she’s simply private in certain aspects, but knows how to keep a balance, and now she has crafted her own path on her own terms.
