Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik eliminated from ‘DWTS’ during Halloween night
[Music] Jen and Yan [Music] Yan. First of all, I want I want to tell you I Okay, I want to tell you my man that you are doing a fantastic first season. Yan. Okay. People who’s trying to stay relevant and spreading the hate. This is not a way to do it. You guys, Wicked Night, the first time they have ever done this on Dancing with the Stars. The production was incredible. What was it like behind the scenes? Talk us through the whole day. Well, first off, the fact that we’re able to be a part of Wicked Night during Dancing with the Stars. I’m I’m sure they I mean, I don’t know if they’ll ever do this again. So, yeah, honestly, like we’re just grateful that we’re able to be a part of it. And yeah, and the fact that like probably some of those, you know, actors and actresses from the movie are watching is kind of crazy to think about. Yeah. So, I mean, special messages from Ariana, Jonathan, and Cynthia, if they do in fact maybe like tweet about your dance, post something on Instagram, like how cool would that be for you as a dancer that I would die, I would pass away. Yeah, it would be it would be great choreography. It would be great. Great. Now, I loved in your package you talked about a little bit of being an outsider. Do you feel like you could relate to Elvaba in some way? Can you talk to us a little bit more about that? Yeah, I mean honestly I when watching the movie I just auto automatically she just resonated with me because there were so many moments in my life where I felt the same way as her when I felt different or felt like I didn’t really belong or felt like an outcast or felt like a lot of like my weaknesses were, you know, just weaknesses when or sorry a lot of my strengths were weaknesses when really they were strengths the whole time. And so yeah, I feel like honestly like everyone should take from Alphaba because we all have things that make us different but actually are the things that you know take us the farthest. So very well said. And Yan, for your part, is there a character from Wicked that you feel like you could resonate with, whether that be now or growing up when you were younger? Oh god, I don’t think so. Uh yeah, I’m not that uh a fan of um The Wicked. I did watch the movie. Incredible movie. I had a lot of friends in it to perform, but um I don’t think so. That’s okay. Yeah, that’s okay. You don’t resonate with Alphaba. Yeah, great. Yeah, I could be Alphaba. Yeah, I could be Alphaba. Yeah, he’s like Glinda. He’s like, I resonate with Glenda. Popular. Yeah, that’s pretty great. And Jen, in your package, you also said that you want you’re not sure if you’re the best dancer. Girl, you’re proving us all wrong and yourself wrong. I mean, the hearing the feedback from the judges tonight. What was that like? I’m sure that was so special. No, it was honestly um it meant a lot to just, you know, get positivity from that cuz positive reinforcement can take you a long way and that’s what I needed and, you know, he’s he’s given me that confidence as well and so yeah, I’m really grateful. And what did you think of her requesting even tougher choreography? I mean, that’s the only thing you could want out of a partner. I mean, that’s incredible. I mean, look, if she’s going to say that she wants to flip, if she’s going to say whatever, she’s going to say, “I am here.” Majesty, um, unemployed, and she’s a boss, making magic happen. I love that. And we have Halloween night coming up. What can you tease about what fans can expect? Expect snakes and expect the Swifties to love it. A little reputation. I like it. We don’t know about that. We don’t know anything about that. What are you saying? Hey, we had to get a little subtle hit in there, right? I love it so much. And John, I just have to ask you cuz I know last week you were having you were battling a little bit of an illness. Are you fully recovered? How are you feeling? No, honestly, I still am like a little under the weather. Um, but I definitely feel way better this week than I did last week. And yeah, I’ll take any any wind. I’m a mommy. Mommy. I’m a mom. Mama. That was so much fun. Talk to us about coming up with that that idea. Um, you know, immediately when they brought up Tik Tok night, I was thinking of like my most legendary Tik Tok. I was thinking the countertop and I was just like I mean I was like hm what’s the most recent v or Tik Tok that went viral and it was the Tik Tok of me in the hospital after giving birth and I thought that’s perfect because that’s kind of like uh what I’m dealing with right now kind of like my journey right now. So when you told your friends and family that you were going to be doing that like paying tribute to that viral song you in the hospital what was their reaction? They were just dying. Especially when I told them about the hospital gown. They’re like, “There’s no way.” I was like, “Yeah, no. I’m I’m fully remaking the Tik Tok. That’s what we’re doing.” You’re newer to Tik Tok, but you are crushing it. He’s crushing it. What has she taught you so far about being a content creator? Everything. Like, let me tell you, today for the voters, I was shaking my ass like never before. And that’s now online. But yeah, she’s teaching me like something new every day about Tik Tok. And I’m like, wait, what? That’s so good. I’m going with the flow. I’m sure we have lots of goodies in the draft. Flow. Yes. You know what he’s really good at? Not even Tik Toks. He’s good at Tik Tok live. People are obsessed with his him going live. Oh my gosh. Okay. Well, I will be tuning in. I’m just confused. I don’t think I’m good. I think I’m confused. And people love that I’m confused. It is a very, very exciting week for the Swifties. You know what I’m going to ask? What can you tease about this new Taylor Swift Life of a Showgirl era that we’re getting this week? I’m not teasing anything. We’re going to all wait until third. We’re going to all streaming together. I’m not teasing anything. Well, how do you as a dancer and the crew that you’ve worked with celebrate a new release? Like, do you all get together? Is there a text chain? Yeah. Um definitely the team’s going to go together, especially the dancers, and try to support the new achievement together. So Friday it is. And you’re a Swifty now, right? Like absolutely. Absolutely. All nighter, baby. You’re kind of having your own life of a showgirl moment right now being on Dancing with the Star. So walk us through really quickly what a typical show day is for you. Jen’s version. show day as in like a day like today. Yeah. Day like today, start to finish. I roll out of bed. And it’s like a 5:00 a.m. I snooze my alarm at least five times until I realize, oh, my driver’s here to pick me up. I better get up and go. Um, get on my put on my slippers and sweats, say a prayer, and then the rest of the day is just craziness. And I Yep. We’re here and then you do the press. Now we’re here and Yep. Well, Jen, I want to bring up something you write wrote on Instagram. I thought it was really special. You said you’re finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So, I wanted to ask, how is Dancing with the Stars helping you get your spark back? I thought that was so beautiful. Oh my gosh, it’s I’m like getting emotional. It’s been everything. Like, I’ve been through so much this last year. So, the fact that I’m here and doing something I’ve always dreamt of, like it’s like the biggest blessing. Well, this is a very exciting moment because this is the first show for both of you. How did it feel? What was it like being out there on the dance floor? Oh my gosh, it was so much fun. I’m just on cloud nine. I um was so stressed. I mean, I’m so used to dancing on my countertops where it’s just like my two, three babies watching me. And the fact that there are millions of people watching now, it’s it was kind of crazy, but I tried to block that out and just I was just pretending like it was just still my three babies just watching me and me having fun. So, it worked out. You crushed it. What about you? It was amazing. I mean, I didn’t stress out because I know that she got it and she killed killed it. She was amazing. You really did. And I have to give you so much credit because you signed up for the show so soon after giving birth. So, how is mama holding up after all those flips and tricks? It is a lot. I’m physically exhausted and it’s definitely hard uh trying to find balance. I mean, I’m working out half the day and then coming home, I’m exhausted, but then I have three babies to take care of. I got to cook, clean, and do all the normal things you do as a mom. But you know what? That’s how you know I’m a mom is you just us moms, we just do it. We just do it. And how incredible is it to have a partner like Jen? I mean, week one and she’s already amazing. She’s amazing, let me tell you. And she’s saying, “Oh, I’m tired.” She’s not. She’s killing it. And she’s going to be like, “I’m tired.” But then she’s in a corner already doing full out and it we didn’t even start it. No, she’s one of a kind. Well, listen, we are so excited to have you as a new pro this season. When did you find out? Was it before or after you wrapped the era tour? This is like huge news. I would say just before I wrapped the era tour. Okay. So, Taylor Swift knew about this. How did she react? Um, I don’t know. Uh, I very respect my NDA. So, nobody knew. Nobody knew until the announcement. That’s very swift of you. And you must be getting all the good Taylor Swift being partnered with him. Uh, what’s a secret you can share with us? There’s got to be something. A secret? Yeah, a secret. Anything. maybe from rehearsal. No, no secret here. That’s fine. That’s fine. Well, listen. Big news in your world today because the season 3 trailer just dropped. We saw it. What can you tease? What can you give us that we didn’t see in that that fans can expect? It’s going to be a lot of drama, a lot of chaos, but at least for me, I think the world’s going to see a better, happier version of myself, which I’m excited for. So, I love that. And I also love that you had so much support in the ballroom tonight. What did that mean to you to have so many family and friends there, including your cast members? It meant everything to me honestly. Like I wouldn’t be able to handle all this without the village that I have supporting me. And so yeah, I was just grateful. And last other big news, Taylor Frankie Paul was just announced as the bachelorette. We’re all so excited for her. If you could hook her up with like the perfect partner, what qualities would this person have? Um, loyal. Definitely loyal. Honest. Um, let’s start with those two. Well said. I’m into it.
Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik were the sixth couple eliminated during Dancing With the Stars season 34 on Halloween Night. Affleck reacted the news of their departure, telling hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, “This experience has meant everything to me. I cannot wait to talk about this in the future with my kids.
