The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have officially moved into their “forever home”, Forest Lodge, with their children, it has been confirmed.

They have left Adelaide Cottage in Windsor’s Home Park and are now residing in the Grade II-listed eight-bedroom mansion in Windsor Great Park.

The relocation occurred during Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ half term, with the family aiming to be settled by Bonfire Night.

According to The Telegraph, the family are now getting accustomed to their new surroundings.

This move is seen as a new beginning for the family following Kate’s recovery from cancer, and comes as William gears up for his solo trip to Rio for his annual Earthshot Prize Awards.

However, this means that the Cambridge family are temporarily closer to William’s disgraced uncle, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, who remains at his Windsor Great Park property Royal Lodge – albeit about 1.4 miles away as the crow flies from William and Kate.

Andrew has finally agreed to vacate Royal Lodge for a new residence on the King’s private Sandringham estate in Norfolk in the New Year, after being stripped by Charles of his prince and Duke of York titles amid the ongoing Epstein scandal.

It was reported that the Duke and Duchess fully backed the King’s leadership on the issue.

William has always been understood to have wanted to take decisive action over his uncle.

Andrew has been accused by the late Virginia Giuffre of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager, after being trafficked by paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, an accusation which the former prince denies.

In September, an exclusion zone was established around Forest Lodge in anticipation of the family’s move.

Local residents have voiced their annoyance at the permanent closure of nearby Cranbourne Gate and Cranbourne car park.

Previously, those residing within half a mile could apply to hold keys to the gate for an annual fee of £110.

Additional fencing was installed on sections of the 2.3-mile boundary around the 150-acre restricted area.

Trespassing on a protected site designated under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA) 2005 is a criminal offence.

The Wales family also owns a 10-bedroom mansion, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, as well as Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace in London.
