Although Jennifer Aniston has been a Hollywood A-lister for decades, Reese Witherspoon believes there are still some misconceptions about her longtime friend and Morning Show co-star.
“She’s not who people think she is — like, holding onto old things,” Witherspoon, 49, said during the Monday, November 3, episode of Dax Shepard’s“Armchair Expert” podcast. “She’s not holding onto things.”
Shepard, 50, chimed in, “She’s not ‘pining for Brad Pitt,’” referring to Aniston’s ex-husband, whom she was married to from 2000 to 2005.
Witherspoon agreed while elaborating on the cordial relationships Aniston, 56, maintains with her exes.

“And by the way, at her 50th birthday — one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is — people from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend was there,” she recalled of the star-studded 2019 party.
Witherspoon added, “She just is a high spiritual-integrity person.”
As for Shepard’s assessment that Aniston is “not a burner of bridges,” Witherspoon confirmed he was “correct.”
While Witherspoon insisted she is not one to hold a grudge either, she described herself and Aniston as “very different people.”
“She’s really warm and welcoming. She’s, like, a big host. Like, ‘Come over!’ She’s very warm and friendly,” she explained. “I think I’m more, like, nerdy.”
Aniston and Witherspoon have been friends for more than 25 years. The pair met in 2000 while playing sisters Rachel Green and Jill Green on Friends. They later teamed up onscreen again for The Morning Show, on which they have portrayed daytime news anchors Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson since 2019.
In September, Witherspoon and Aniston reflected on their growth as friends and collaborators.
“If you had told either one of us, I think, when we were doing Friends, that we would be co-starring in and producing a show together, I think we would have said, ‘You’re nuts. That’s bananas!’ But it’s so fun,” Witherspoon told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
Aniston shared a similar sentiment, calling the experience “wonderful.”
“Being able to see where we were when we began and what we’re doing today, it gets me very emotional about it,” she said. “It’s a tricky business. We were so grateful just to get any jobs and let alone be here 25 years later. It’s quite special.”
