Zohran Mamdani made history in the Big Apple on Election Day by defeating Andrew Cuomo in the New York City mayoral race, becoming the youngest person in over a century to hold the position. Now, celebrities from all over the country are weighing in online.
Mamdani’s candidacy faced criticism from both sides of the aisle, with former President Donald Trump among his most vocal detractors.
Rapper 50 Cent woke up on Wednesday, November 5, to share a clip on Instagram, according to Complex, of Mamdani’s now-famous four-word message to Trump after his win, in which the 34-year-old told the president to “turn your volume up” ahead of his victory speech.
50 Cent captioned the video, which has since been deleted: “3 words : No funding coming ! NYC finished,” signaling his disappointment with the outcome.
Actor Michael Rapaport chimed in on X with a GIF of a person shouting, accompanied with text that read “nooooo!!!!”
Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jackie Goldschneider also weighed in, sharing a meme on her Instagram Story — first posted by 50 Cent — of a tombstone reading, “RIP NYC Founded 1620 Died 2025.”
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy hinted at his disapproval as well, writing on X, “But if this is what the people of NYC want than [sic] so be it. Thank god I don’t live there anymore.”
