Tensions throughout the Royal Family are continuing to fester as a royal expert shares that there seems to be a ‘growing divide’ between Meghan and Prince Harry as the actress announces Hollywood comeback.

This comes after Harry risked overshadowing his brother last week by going on a high-profile foreign trip at the same time that Prince William was in Brazil.

While the Duke of Sussex was seen posing with soldiers in Canada, William was seen to be accepting his Earthshot Prize and representing the King at the COP30 climate change summit.

If this glaring tension wasn’t enough, Meghan managed to take the spotlight from both princes by announcing that she will be turning to acting in a big-budget Hollywood movie, reports the Mirror.

Before she became the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan was most widely known for her role in Suits. After stepping back to become a member of the royal family, she will now be taking part in an upcoming blockbuster called Close Personal Friends.

Alongside Meghan, this film will feature Emily In Paris star Lily Collins and Marvel superhero Brie Larson.

While insiders have been ‘sworn to secrecy’ over the specifics of Meghan’s role, it has been reported that she will be playing herself after a eight-year hiatus.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam says that not only do the week’s events highlight the ongoing feud between the royals and the Sussexes, but also indicates a growing divide between Meghan and Harry as her focus now seems set on Hollywood rather than a return to the UK.

He said: “Meghan’s decision to appear as herself in a Hollywood comedy film definitely emphasises her shift towards the US. But Harry still feels very deeply about his homeland and would like to spend more time in the UK. The same cannot be said for Meghan, so there’s a clear divergence in opinions there.

“We also don’t know what will come after this film, but we do know they have Netflix projects to deliver, so this may only be the start for her in Hollywood.”

Harry’s trip to Canada was to mark “the period of Remembrancetide”, which traditionally runs from November 1 to 11. The Duke’s team has since dismissed suggestions of a clash between the brothers, as the Toronto events were planned “nearly a year ago” and that Harry “can’t choose to move” the dates of Remembrancetide.

There Harry wrote an essay titled The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What It Means To Be British, in which he described the privilege he felt to have served alongside men and women from all four corners of the UK.

He went on to describe the “banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands” as the “things that make us British”, before adding “I love it”.

Richard says that this letter is another clear indicator of how deeply “self-exiled Harry misses the UK”. He said: “Harry would very much like to see more of his father, especially as he has said publicly he doesn’t know how long he will live for.

“It’s also Charles’ birthday very soon, and that will no doubt trigger more feelings of regret for Harry. But Meghan is focused on her commercial success.

“Her brand is currently far enough removed that it shouldn’t be damaged and she will certainly want to keep it that way. The levels of toxicity are such that there is certainly potential for damage to be done.”

Meghan was also spotted on the set of the new blockbuster last week, with a source telling People magazine: “She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down to earth.”
