Kim Kardashian fails bar amid All’s Fair criticism, why Sydney Sweeney is an ‘it girl’ | Yap Session
Welcome to Yap Session where we talk about what’s buzzing on the internet and anything that Page Six is talking about around the office too. First topic of the day is it girls. What is an ITG girl? It’s not Penny Wise. We’re not talking about Penny Wise here. Please passelling. These are cool cool girls in Hollywood that everyone’s talking about. They’re stylish. They’re cool. They’re in movies. They’re on TV. Sydney Sweeny’s at the top of the list right now. Mhm. Yes. And she’s not going anywhere cuz we’re talking about who she’s with, where she is, what she’s doing, what she’s wearing. We can’t stop. Yeah, we can’t get enough. I know. She was just making out with Scooter Braun in Central Park. Yeah, she wanted us to see her. Yeah. And it’s not even warm out anymore. What are you doing in the park making out? Go inside, Sydney. Well, that’s not where the paparazzi is, right? You got to think like a celebrity. Scenic Rock. Yes, Scenic Rock. Yeah. Scooter brought out of all people. It’s like she’s turning on Taylor. I know. But, you know, she courts the controversy. I saw a headline that said, “Sydney Sweeney refuses to apologize.” I’m like, “Refuses to apologize for what? For being hot?” Like, at this point, she was given the opportunity to apologize. And she was like, “What are you talking about? I’m Sydney Sweeney.” I What confuses me though is it’s like she’s saying she’s single. She was engaged. Then there was speculation that she split. No more ring. Seemed single. Then was seen with Scooter. Then was saying she was single, and now she’s making out with Scooter on a rock. Like, I can’t keep up. Can a girl date? you never dated and got a little messy rosteration, if you will. I don’t know if the girls know about that, but you know, keep a couple, you know. Well, and she’s still hanging out with Jonathan Deino, you know, under not so romantic situation. She was spotted like in a car with him. I mean, the fact that I know this much about this girl’s personal life against your will probably, right? She gets a new haircut and I’m like, “Okay, I’m in again.” Right. Right. She pulls me back in think she wears. It’s like she’s out there promoting this new her new movie Christy, which actually is an incredible story. True story. And it’s like all we can talk about is wow, this dress that she has on is sheer. You know who’s like that though? Zenaia. Zenaia is another girl that’s like that where it’s like she can do anything, but it’s like well what is she wearing? Like she’s in the Dune movies, but everyone wants to know what she’s wearing on the red carpet. I didn’t even watch the Dune, but I definitely checked out the red carpet looks. Absolutely. I mean, but she’s an icon. I I think Sydney is becoming a red carpet icon probably herself, but but it’s like how does one become an icon? That’s the question. Elements of the it girl. You have to have a perfect stylist, I feel like. And L Roach has definitely Yeah, he’s definitely gotten to like all the way together. Like really made her an icon through fashion. Absolutely. So fashion. The fashion. The look. Yeah. First of all, the look. I’m sorry. We all talk a lot of smack about JLo. I love JLo, but it’s the face for me. That face card for 50some years has never looked better. She is a stunning woman. I just get hypnotized. So, the look is very important. And she was the it girl when she was in the green Versace dress. Yes. You know, that was the moment. You know, it wasn’t just the face. It was also the butt. Y and for years, we couldn’t stop talking about her. And and you know, we’ve had other it girls, you know, a couple years ago, maybe it was Jennifer Lawrence, you know, pre- pandemic. you know, Angelina Jolie when she first burst on the scene, won an Oscar, started dating, you know, Brad Pitt, she was an it girl. So, we have these each generation has their little micro moment. And some of the things I I and that those girls have in common is like the it factor, right? Like they have charisma. Sure, anybody can have charisma, but to have the it factor, what is that? Like it’s like this Jennisqua. It’s this like thing you can’t teach. It’s something that’s unique energy that they give off. it like radiates and then we’re all like yeah obsessed and we don’t know what it is. We can’t even put our finger on it but we’re like I’m obsessed. Yeah. It’s not enough just to be beautiful or just stylish or just talented have to be all three. So that like you rise above all of it because there are a lot of beautiful women in Hollywood. Yeah. And they have they can all hire a good stylist but that extra thing that makes Zenaia cool, right? I think to me it’s a bit of the cool girl. Like when I was like a little kid I remember thinking Winona Ryder was so cool and she was an it girl. She was in Beetlejuice, Heathers. You know, she had this like the bangs. Yes. You know, she had the cool leather jacket. Like I think you have to kind Yeah. I think you can’t be a Pikmi girl, right? We have an it girl and we have Pikmi girls. Yeah. A Pikmi girl can never be an it girl. Anne Hathaway unfortunately has never been Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare. I’m saying I love Anne Hathaway. I love Anne Hathaway. Maybe for the one month Devil Wears product came out, she was an it girl and then she then she ruined it. I mean, that’s all she needed was Devil’s Rare product. I know. Do you think Taylor Swift is an ITG girl? Because I feel like we’re paying a lot of attention to her, but then she does get a lot of critiques on her fashion choices. I’ll say I’m not going to say backlash, she’s pretty basic the way she dresses, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m, you know, I’m a I’m a cozy kid. I love wearing something comfortable, but I would say in the world of pop music right now, Charlie is the it girl. Charlie X. Okay. Yeah. And Taylor is just Yeah. Charlie has the cool factor. I mean, Taylor Swift said herself that she’s not a savage or she’s not a what is it like a a hot girl or whatever when she was kind of uh dissing Kayla Nicole was shading Nicole. Um so she’s not she’s admittedly like not the cool girl. That’s not her brand. Her brand is like the girl next door, the girl that you can relate to. That’s her brand. She doesn’t give me it girl though. But I think it matters who you ask, right? Because like I think if you were to ask me, my it girls are like Rihanna, Beyonce, but those are almost you almost they’re in a category on their own. And yeah, Rihanna in the 2010s, it’s like anything she did as soon as she cut the hair off. Yes. Yeah. And she was the first I remember this was such a moment where she just started going topless on Instagram and she’s like, “Ban me. Go ahead. I have a 100red million followers on here. Ban me. Go ahead.” Like, “Okay, boohoo. I I’m still Rihanna.” Like, she just started taking Tasteful Nudes, you know? A tasteful nude. one hand over the breast like and everyone was like jaw dropped. This was like you know 2012 13 era and it was just Yeah. Bad girl Riri. Yeah. I think it matters who was popping when you were in your formidable years. You know what I mean? When you were in like junior high to high school to like early college. Who was that guy? Like for me it was like the Rihanna’s and the Beyonces and like Drake. I know we’re talking about girls but just who was popping during that time. You have like a particular connection to them and that nostalgia that turns like a regular fan to like a barb or like a beehive per like you know what I mean? It’s like extra part. You can have an it boy. I think Jacob Allerty is an it boy. He’s an it boy. He appears on camera even as Frankenstein the monster on Netflix and I’m like I’ll watch like me like Frankenstein. And we are like ooh he’s out to lunch with someone like it could have been his next door neighbor or his you know someone from his publicist office and we’re all like who’s that girl he’s eating with like we need to know now. Yeah that’s the thing. It girls and boys can make whoever they’re around it. Boys and girls, that’s how much of an it they have is that they’re it’s contagious. Well, another it girl is definitely Kim Kardashian. And and it’s interesting cuz when we listed kind of the things that we say make you an it girl. Talent was one of those things. And a lot of people critique Kim. Wow. Let’s get into the talent talk. Like a lot of people critique Kim. So it’s like does she fall I mean we can’t deny her impact but does she fall under that it girl factor? Like even someone like a Rihanna or a JLo, like they’re unabashed it girls. The talent is arguable, but it’s I think you have to have here’s my here’s what I say. You have to have a minimum amount of talent. You do have to have some talent. You don’t have to have an extraordinary Beyonce level of talent, but you do have to have some just like the bare minimum, but if you have charisma in the look and the it factor, then it’s like that’ll carry you the rest of the way. Oh, I mean, Jennifer Lopez is one of the best dancers, you know, in pop music. She’s stunning. She’s a fantastic actor, too. Yeah, I do think she’s a good actress. Not to sound like I’m in Mean Girls, but one time Jennifer Lopez did an interview where she said she gets eight hours of sleep a night. So now I’m always like to my husband, I need 8 hours of sleep. Jennifer Lopez gets 8 hours of sleep at night. That’s her trick. That’s the influence. It’s probably a little bit more, you know, but she told me 8 hours of sleep and I said same. Say less. I’ll do that, too. I know the next generation of it girls are probably people we don’t even know. They might be a Tik Tok star or a podcast girl. Yeah. Who do we think is next? I mean, are the Alex’s the podcast, you know, Alex Cooper? I don’t really feel like they have that sort of I agree. stardom about them like you you look at them and and I feel like sometimes that makes the difference between like your influencers and your celebrities like you know, you look at Sydney Sweeney and you’re just like captivated and drawn in like you want to look like her. Like you want to look at her. I’m sorry, but like I was saying I would not say no to that. I just don’t feel like Alex Earl and some of the other podcast girls really have that sort of that we’re just in a new era of celebrity I feel like where like the influencers are new celebrities and the celebrities have less pull in a way but a a good celebrity we still need those you know I would say maybe Sabrina Carpenter I know she’s not really up and coming she’s kind of here she’s came but she’s she’s 25 she’s like 10 she has 10 albums yeah but I mean her fashion is really evolving she’s like recreating looks from the nanny that everybody’s obsessed with following what she’s going to do next. So, she kind of has that she’s still like young Hollywood and she’s stunning like beautiful woman. Yes. And and an it girl that I that had a great comeback this past year was Parker Posie. So in the 80s and 90s and you know she was just this quirky cool girl you know great style hipster and then a couple decades you know we didn’t hear about Parker Posie but then with white lotus she came back and it that magic was still there and everyone was like oh my god we love Parker Posie the resurrection of an it girl was an it girl always an it girl yes said by the number one it girl herself you know I am following JLo’s rules so here I am in in high school superlatives The it girl doesn’t win homecoming queen, she wins best rest. Or like, you know what I mean? Like she wins something else. Most likely to host a talk show. Yeah. Or like most likely to be like president. Something where it’s like you could see her having influence. She’s a little charismatic, powerful. Or maybe the prom queen. Yes. Yeah. Hopefully they have a little bit more to come than just looks though. You got to have, you know, I’m like Sydney Sweeney’s prom queen in her sheer dress. Yes. Yeah, she is. Speaking of the number one girl, speaking of the number one itch girl, Kim Kardashian and her in her show All’s Fair. Have you guys had a chance to take a look at the the I’ve read the reviews reviews. Okay. But what I do love about obviously the reviews haven’t been great, which we can get into. I do love that sort of part of Kim’s it girl factor is that things really just bounce off her. And I think that might be what puts her in that category. She’s like leaning into the joke that the reviews are bad in the show. It’s amazing. So, it started off for a while was at 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, which meant there not a single nice review. That’s eaked up to 5% which is still Okay. Crazy low. We’re climbing now. We’re climbing. But on Hulu%, it’s one of the most watched shows of the week on Hulu. Well, people are probably hate watching, you think, right? Yeah. Or just watching it to see the clothes and how beautiful Sarah Pollson is at 50. And you know there’s so much there and there’s prestige actresses, you know, loaded cast. Yeah, fully loaded cast. Glenn Close Pson, Naomi Watts, Kim, Ni Nash, Tiana Taylor, who is having a talking about it girls, having a moment. I mean, she’s always had a moment, but really really having a moment. I think she’s going to win an Oscar spring next year. She’s nominated for one battle after another. She’s so good in that movie and she’s badass in it, you know. She plays like this revolutionary and it’s sexy and it’s great. I mean, I don’t want to spoil it, but she’s steals the show. Lena DiCaprio is like, I thought this was my movie. Just kidding, sweetie. She steals the show. Yeah. No, all so 5% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s an all-star cast. I mean, so I watched the trailer and a couple of scenes like on TikTok. Um, I think it made me appreciate the real actors a little bit more cuz you could see like I’m not an actress, right? So, I don’t know how to tell the difference or like say that’s what she did wrong, but you can see her up against like actors that have been doing this for decades and you see it. You’re like, “Oh, they committed to it.” I feel like Kim Kardashian is still trying to look pretty when she’s not really giving or maybe it’s the Botox. Who knows? My queen has, you know, gone under the knife a few times. Well, speaking of Jessica Simpson is a guest character and she plays a woman who is kind of bullied by her her husband to get plastic surgery and so she go gets all this uh prosthetics botch this botch. So she’s given kind of her character botch. Yeah. Her her character has this kind of face like you know and and it’s so it’s so great for Jessica Simpson too, you know, to have this funny moment. I think the show is maybe a they say it’s a legal drama, but maybe there it’s really just a comedy and we’re watching for the shade. Well, it is a Ryan Murphy production and I know a lot of people are giving it terrible reviews, but there are people online that are like, “Hey, it is what it is. You kind of get what you’re expecting out of it.” And so, they’re kind of saying, “Lean into it and just enjoy. It’s a little bit extreme with their glam and their outfits and everything, but maybe that’s why you’re watching it.” I would say the glam is definitely a good draw. Like the it was like beautiful seeing the trailer was like beautiful colors, outfits, beautiful hair, everything was everything was like 10 out of 10. Like when you think Kim Kardashian’s production or like her producing something like you can see her her touches on it. Yeah, exactly. Where is this law office? I’m sorry. Every law office I’ve ever seen has been in like an office park with like drop ceiling and you see like a a water stain and no this is like beautiful like columns and folds and it was like giving you know this is like an art museum. It was gorgeous. Like where they work is insane. I feel like she wanted to show us like if she would have passed the bar this is what it would be. Well I would give it a chance just cuz I haven’t yet but I would give it a chance. I mean, our sister publication decider said that don’t listen to the hate reviews. If you’re leaning into the fact that it’s campy, you know what you’re getting, then you should watch it. So, I’ll give it a try. Yeah. It seems like it’s a a hangover show, you know? Yeah. Don’t take it too serious. Three episodes were out, I think, this week, like all at once, you know? So, I mean, I’ve appreciated Ryan Murphy’s shows in the past. We all have a favorite, right, you know, whether it was Glee or, you know, J Simpson. Yeah. The American Crime Stories. Yes. or the assassination of Giani Versace. Honey, wait. American Horror Story. We have to give it to American Horror Story. The Coven with Sarah Austin. Yes. So, you create this much television. I mean, the man is so rich like and has given roles to actors that might be past their prime in Hollywood standards and have you re uh given them like a bit of a resurgence. Sarah Pollson credits Ryan Murphy for her career now, which is kind of wild. Yeah, we love Ryan Mur. Ryan Murphy and espe what’s funny about Sarah Pollson is you see her and Kim Kardashian like in the interviews they’re having a key they’re having a great time they’re laughing little inside jokes I’m like oh let me squeezing of the buttocks yeah I sent Ashley a clip of uh from the Kardashians where like Glen Kos is getting drunk with Kim Kardashian Sarah Jenner’s house and they’re all just like having martinis I’m like oh to be a fly on the wall in that room. Yeah, it’s amazing. I mean, to think that these prestige actresses, I mean, Glen Close, you know, was nominated for an Oscar and a Tony and, you know, it it’s like she’s hanging out with the Skiims founder, you know, it’s it’s so wild. It really is. I mean, it just it shows that if Kim can do it, so can we. Yeah. I mean, that if girl factor really has expanded itself cuz, you know, originally everyone was like, “No, you can’t do this. You’re not going to get on Vogue. You’re not going to be in movies. Like, you’re just a stupid reality star.” And it’s like, “Baby, look at me. and have a star-studded cast. Everyone’s here for me. Yeah, absolutely. And and I think Kim and Chris are producers on the show, right? I wouldn’t put it past them. I can’t I can’t Wikipedia that right now, but I believe you. Yeah, I’ll chat later. It’ll tell me all about it, right? And then it’ll be like Kim Kardashian is so mean. Yeah, that’s exactly GPG having a mind of its own. There was also like a side uh story that I loved that uh from the Kardashians the Hulu show where it showed some behind the scenes of Kim and Sarah you know getting ready to shoot something and Kim is basically telling Sarah that she doesn’t believe the moon landing in the original moonlanding happened and she has all the she’s like I have facts go to Tik Tok and Sarah’s like I will look into this like this very real moment you know kind of blew up and it it’s like all fair is is part of it the story but the whole story is this like cast chemistry and you know oh I mean I saw an interview with them I was just saying in our office yesterday and whoever the gal was doing the interview she’s amazing she has like the funniest interviews on Tik Tok and she was like what’s your um hot take I’ll go first mine is that a pigeon is a flying rat and Sarah Pollson was like on like the case for that for like two minutes Sarah was like let me talk this through with you what is going on was she pro pigeon or anti-pigeon was Sarah Yeah, I can’t remember. I’ve got to rewatch it. But it was I remember the whole reaction was funny and Kim was like, “What’s going on?” And then like their their to your point, their press has been so funny this entire time. Yeah. They’re hanging out. It’s just girlhood. They’re just hanging out with a couple gals. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you look at most movies, you know, up until the year 2025, and there’s one woman in the cast, and the entire rest of the cast are guys, and the crew is all guys. And you talk about which of these, you know, celebrities succeeded during that era. You know, you have like a Cameron Diaz type who’s like, right, she’s a guy’s girl and she’s the the one, you know, uh, woman on the set and it it’s just a different vibe. And we’ve we’ve moved into a different era, I think, with streaming and and prestige television where we can see a show like one of my favorite like mostly women show was uh, Bad Sisters on Apple TV and it and it’s like, was it perfect? No. Was it fun as hell? Yes. And they got to chew the scenery and there was murder and mystery and sick, you know, five or six, you know, sisters like all playing these hilarious, darkly funny characters. And there that’s that’s I think what Allspair is too, you know. Yeah. And I think the like the premise of Allspair is really cool to me. Like it’s a it’s a male-dominated law firm where these few women that are focused on divorce like separate from the law firm and they’re fighting ruthlessly against these women’s ex-husbands that are trying to like take them for everything they have. It’s very very, you know, feminist, very pro- women. I love all of that. And so, it kind of goes to line with your point like the women are are calling the shots for themselves these days. Absolutely. They really are. Well, I’m going to tune in. Maybe we all should. Yeah. Give it a few episode watch and then we can decide on Rotten Tomatoes if we want to boost the 5% or not. Let’s go leave comments. Leave our reviews. Boost it up. Leave our own reviews. But I mean, busy season for Tiana Taylor because she’s actually part of the Grammy nominations which were just announced recently. Yes. Wow. And so she’s gonna be part of that excitement. Maybe if EGOT is in her future. I could totally see it for her. Yes. Can we talk about the Grammy nominations? There’s always so many categories that we really should just focus on like the big ones. Album of the year, record of the year. What is the difference? Song of the year. Album of the year. Record of the year. always get them confused every time the Grammys roll around. Every single time I’m like, “What? What? What?” So, song of the year, I think, is where they’re kind of more focused on the songwriter and the song writing of it. And then the other one is focused on production. Like, I think engineers, I think artists, that’s what that’s what the internet, the record of the year is not the actual vinyl record. It’s the recording of one song. Right. And then, yeah, which is why I get it confused. And then album is the full 12 track, blah blah blah. And then there’s also best new artist. It’s like I think the big kind of four uh record, album of the year, song, and new best new artist. And so this this time around, Lady Gaga has the most nominations out of anyone, right? For Mayhem. Yeah. I also think Kendrick was leading with nine nods as well. So he’s really he’s up there, too. Two years in a row, he’s he’s taken over. I mean, I’ve been loving, you know, Lady Gaga. You know, it’s she really just gave us a goth rock album. It feels like Bad Romance the album. Yeah. And so Abracadabra is so fun. You know, when it when it first like hit in like February, I remember I was at like a gay bar and it had been streaming for about 12 hours and everyone knew every lyric. I was like, “This is ridiculous audience. This is ridiculous.” Yeah. That’s a really fun one. I’m excited about that. Yeah, she did take us back to like her early early Lady Gaga days for sure. I’m personally really excited about and I wrote this down, honey, cuz I was not going to remember all this. I wanted Bad Bunny to re to uh win album of the year because of course. Now, also nominated though, I think we got a good like lineup for the album of the year. We got Bad Bunny. We got Justin Bieber swag. I was surprised by that. I was very surprised by that. I mean, I love album. Yeah. Like, did you hear Yukon? Yeah. The what the video where he’s like on the water with his baby. It’s black and white. Very He’s grown now. He’s grown Bieber. It’s Mr. Bieber to you. Mr. Beaver. Um, then we got Sabrina Carpenter, which I I do. I enjoy Sabrina Carpenter. Uh, we have Let God Sort The Him Out Clips. Push A Tea, Lady Gaga, our Queen, Kendrick Lamar, Leon Thomas who sings Mut, and then we have Tyler the Creator. So, that’s album of the year. My I go for Bad Bunny. Who do you go for? I I was going to say Gaga. I think it’s just a most complete album for her and she’s given the recording industry so much that it often feels like a little bit of a crowning a crowning achievement after giving us so much. Yeah, I would say Kendrick Lamar’s G&X. I think like it’s it’s very niche, but I think because in hip-hop it was a moment for him to really kind of stake claim in like regional music, you know, like this is not a catchall for all the sounds. Like we’re not trying to hit everyone, but we’re really trying to focus on like LA culture. Like we’re trying to focus on this specific region. Um I thought thought that was pretty cool. Even thinking of like Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter last year, um where it was like going back to her Texas roots, right? Like really putting on for where you’re from. And I thought that was pretty cool. It is cool. And it’s cool how you can see something that’s such a passion project that they’re okay with it not resonating with everyone then resonate with everyone. So, and then you’re kind of like learning through what the like history of it is, where it came from, what their story is. So, you know, wasn’t there one year that Andre 3000 had a flute album? Yeah. He’s playing flute baby. Yes. And people are like, “What?” But it it is that same thing, that passion project that kind of just, you know, ascends. I’m excited. The best new artist category is going to be a crazy one because Addison Ray is nominated. Yes. Which we’ve been talking around The Office. We kind of felt like it was a little crazy to see her name out there. I mean, I know her songs are really popular right now, but she’s 25. She’s taken over. Yeah, she’s she’s Diet Pepsi. She’s fun, right? She’s fun. I like Leon Thomas. He sings Mut, which is the name of his album, but I’ve only ever heard the one song. Um, I’m here for Leon Thomas because like it’s like again seeing these like Nickelodeon Disney kids like really kind of growing up and like making a career outside of like their, you know, their Disney days, their Nickelodeon days. Like I think that’s pretty cool. I love Olivia Dean. Oh my gosh, I love her. Come be the man. I’ve been seeing it all day in the office. It’s taking over my TikTok. I’m obsessed with her. So good. And her voice, she just has such a unique voice. it like it has that I don’t want to call it folky because it’s not but do you know what I mean? She has that feels though alternative sound and it’s like nice and soothing almost. Yeah. It’s light. It’s joyful. It brings you like I just I’m I’m skipping through a garden. I’m just skipping through a garden while I listen to her. It’s everything’s okay. Dilling and dallying all over the place. Almost soothing, if you will. Well, it sounds like it could be anyone’s game this year, but last year it was so obviously going to be Chapel Rome. Yeah. like she was it was she stole that, you know, best new artist and everyone knew it. They were like that is the person who should and that was after pink the pink pony club song, right? It was the whole year of it. Yeah. Which I absolutely love that love that song. Yeah, I know. And like her she’s now nominated for record of the year for the subway. And this is not on an album. This was a single that she released that she had been performing a lot live and I guess finally like got in the studio and made it this very unexpected hit because it’s just like it’s something that maybe like Florence in the Machine would have sang. It’s not like an it doesn’t have an obvious song structure. It’s Katy Perry would have would have rejected this song. And this is and this is why Chapel Ran is a star. It’s just her voice sounds so good on it. It’s called The Subway and I I I’ve been playing it non-stop ever since it came out and I think that’s going to win. I say for song of the year, Anxiety by Doi. Oh, yes. Have you guys First of all, I was like I I liked it at first and then I started to hate it cuz I heard it all the time on T. It’s like enough. I love the song and I love Doi. So, just because of the fact that I love Doi so much, I want her to win that song. Also, who doesn’t have anxiety? No, it is so relatable but like somehow fun. It’s like making me It’s like anxiety. It sles the goat day song, right? It does. Which is such a good song. So, I think it could win record of the year because it’s such a perfect melding of those two like genres. Yes. Good point. It is. Yeah. That’s somebody that I used to know. That song was a banger, too. So good. And he disappeared in my, you know, in my eyes. So, I was like, resurrection kind of I think he’s he’s Belgian. And you know, Kimbra, who’s also on that song, is like Australian. I think it just was like, you know, lightning in a bottle. Yeah. It’s great. I mean, when does an a xylophone like end up becoming like the hit the hit of a song, but it’s like it’s just like so perfect. And you know, DOI’s Doi’s a star. Doi’s Doi. Record of the year, Luther. I mean, Bad Bunny’s all over this list, too. Sabrina Carpenter is all over this list. Billy Isish, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars. Now, that one surprised me. I didn’t even know you had a song out. That song with Ros. Yeah. Yeah. I didn’t hear about this girl. Oh, we won’t do copyrighters for that because I did not sing it very often. They’ll be like, “We don’t even hear that song anymore.” Ros’s album is great and that song is really fun. And you know, I um I love Bruno Mars. I think Ros is has that it girl quality. So true. the fact that her hair is this like impossible color to achieve. It’s like your your hair is rosé colored, you know, and she’s just cool. That song is infectious. She speaking of having all those it girl qualities, her fashion is one to watch because it’s you can like see it evolving as she has grown into like her own space, her own music, being able to kind of do things herself now. And she has some really good fashion songs. So, I could see them winning the, you know, best pop duo, a little less competitive category. You know, that was won a couple years ago by Sam Smith and Kim Petrus. Oh, yes. You know, so I, you know, there’s just so many, there’s so many trophies up for grabs. The Grammys is such a fun show. It’s like, it’s my personal favorite award show to watch because you can just actually see everyone rock out. Yeah. It’s nice the performances. Yes. Yes. And so many of the songs this year are so catchy. Mhm. So, I think we will be singing along. I will. And it sounds like with Bad Bunny from Super Bowl to Grammys, February is going to be insane for Bad Bunny. Absolutely. Grammys are February 1st, Super Bowl. Mid midFebruary, something like that. So, did we say it was the six? Something like that. Right. Bad Bunny will be having a busy week. Oh, he’ll have a busy week. He’s winning something. He should. Well, we’ll be tuning into the Grammys in February and and and I can’t wait to see if any of these artists try to campaign a little bit because last year there was some drama with, you know, which artists that were snubbed basically saying, “I’m not showing up for the show. I’m not going to participate.” So, I think like the Grammys, they addressed it and they uh are definitely have a more um inclusive lineup this year and I think it’ll be a a good show. You know who I thought got snubbed? Taylor Swift and Cardi B. But then I realized the deadline. This deadline. It’s so I hate the deadline. It’s August 30th and their albums came out just days after and so they’re not able to be in it. So next year they’ll have to give it a give it a shot. For Cardies it won’t be so bad because it’s like they’ll she’ll have tours. So it’ll still be like in the zeitgeist. But it’s always a little confusing though cuz you know it’s like oh you expect this person to be there and then next year comes and it’s like well why is this album here? I know. You’re like we’ve been listening to that for a really long time. I do think Taylor does it strategically though. I mean, I don’t know. But I feel like she does because whenever she did her re-recordings, she spaced those out so that the songs that were never released before that could be contenders for the Grammys weren’t competing against each other. So, she I would assume she has a business strategy for knowing the date, the due date, as I’m sure a lot of artists do. But I just w I kind of picked up on it more with that cuz I realized that she was not having her songs compete with her own songs. She was kind of separating them. So maybe there is a strategy behind it for Cardi and Taylor. Do you think Taylor didn’t want to compete with Sabrina Carpenter? That’s right. They’re friends. Oh, that could that’s a good thought. They’re friends. And also I’m excited for Sabrina’s Carpenters’s album, which has Manchild on it, but the album is called Man’s Best Friend. And of course, the album art is her on her hands and knees getting her hair pulled like she’s a dog. And uh controversial. Controversial. Honestly, my dog is treated like a princess, so I don’t think it’s that bad. But I would never pull my dog like that. But this is my hot take. Sabrina Carpenter had the album Taylor should have made. You know, with the life of a show girl, it was supposed to be this pop album. She Max Martin produced the whole thing. And you know, it it wasn’t that fun for me, but Sabrina’s is fun and it’s also sexy and flirty. there’s some dirty lyrics that at age 25, you know, maybe it’s not appropriate for kids and that’s like where she needs to be living right now is as the pop moment. So, she’s kind of breaking out of that Disney shell that so many of them have to kind of go through. Like Miley stripping the Disney layers off, Selena kind of coming into their own. And it’s more exciting, I hate to say it, when a 25-year-old writes a song that’s about being horny than when like a 35-year-old does it. And I not to it doesn’t feel as cutting edge, you know what I mean? Like for Taylor’s, you know, Taylor’s wood song, it’s like, okay, I think that for that, in my opinion, it was just like so from left out of left field from her. Like it’s something I would expect from Sabrina, but from Taylor, I’m like, wait, where did this come from? Yeah. Trying new things, I guess. But Taylor’s been, you know, pulling from, you know, her contemporaries the past couple years. like, you know, a lot of her songs in this new album sound like Lana Del Rey songs or, you know, so I think or, you know, I think it’s it’s impossible not to absorb each other’s influences. Yeah. You just absorb it through osmosis. Speaking of sad songs, Lana Del Rey, um, Billy Eyish’s album. Now, I love She makes me sad in a way that I enjoy. It’s something kind of toxic about it. I’m like, I’m sad and I was happy 5 minutes ago, but I love this song. And she’s nominated also for Wild Wildflower, I believe. Yes, that song is really really [Laughter] Yeah, she’s like uh run a warm bath, dim the lights, cry, have a little wine. Yeah, have a little wine restine. Just cry. I mean, her voice is just the tone is so Yeah. I remember one time they did an interview with her mom and they were like, “Why is your daughter so sad?” And she was like, “Well, have you spoken to the kids these days? The kids are sad. The kids are not all right.” speaking for the generation. She is She’s speaking for a generation that Doi, all the There’s a theme here. The young ones, anxiety with Doi. We got sad, just straight sadness from my my queen Billy Eyish. The kids are not okay. The kids are They’re not. And they’re expressing their emotions in a way that’s hopefully cathartic for them. They’re not hiding it. And I know we’ve come a long way since like the 60s when everything was just like love and crushes and having fun. Everything’s good. Magical. A very big surprise on the Grammys list for me was Timothy Shalamé. Wait, what? Speaking of old musicish, but he’s nominated. He’s not rapping, is he? I wish. Kyle, because you know there’s a clip of him on the internet rapping from high school. Maybe that’s what Kylie was interested in. Yeah, he went to LaGuardia High School. Stop. And so for the talent show, he did an original rap. An I was going to say, who did he rap? He wrapped himself. Yeah, his persona was Little Timmy. I think it was Little Timmy. Timmy, never forget. And then of course his viral SNL moment with Pete Davidson. Correct. Wait, so what is he nominated for? Spoken word. He was nominated for A complete unknown. Oh, the Bob Dylan movie. Yes. So getting a little old is new. And he was on his way to an EGOT, too. It was his vocals on that soundtrack. Yes. And he I mean it was impressive. But I think Bob Dylan anyone can sing like, right? I know. Not to be shady, but is this guy like this? And the category that he is he in the room? I just like it. Uh the category that he’s nominated in, he’s up against Wicked. A Oh, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Revo. Yes, that’s going to be a tough one. And they’re in the movie’s coming out soon. So, and the two of them were nominated for Defying Gravity. Did you see their little tattoo? No, I didn’t. What does it look like? Just like a little finger tattoo or something like that. I feel like it’s like a word or something. You going have to look at a They’re so connected on a deep spiritual level, honey. They’re artists. Pinkies. They’re also it girls. I would say Ariana Grande is definitely an it girl. For sure. I mean, the pony I enjoy her pony moment when she was ponied up and tanned down. That was my girl at that moment. She’s different now. Her wicked era is a little bit different, but I enjoy it. Mhm. She definitely leans into like what her eras are. She’s got to stay She had to stay blonde for, you know, the press tour, I’m sure, for this. And so she’s in her Galinda era. She is. I can’t wait for the next one. I know. No shade, but dying for the next one. I know. Well, maybe we’ll be talking about Wicked for Good next week. It’s coming out any minute, right? In November. Yes. Yeah. And there’s supposedly new songs, which is cool because there’s an original Ariana and original Cynthia song. Yeah. And those can be nominated. Here we go again. next Grammys and for the Oscars because if it’s a right song you’re not eligible for best new song if it was already in the musical. Yes. So that’s why a lot of movie musicals have like one new song that kind of you know gives Olivia Newton John and Greece a chance to win a win an Oscar. They had to throw one in there just for them but rightfully deserved. So we can’t wait to see who wins the Grammys. I think we’ll I think we know I think our predictions will be good. Yeah. So, February 1st, we’re seated and set. We’ll be waiting to see who who takes on who takes the metal home. The gramophone. The first is the Grammys and the eighth is a Super Bowl. Oh, okay. Just a week exactly a week later. Yeah. And here at Page Six, we will be tired that week, but we will be set watching. Thanks for watching Yap Session and uh let us know what you think about it girls and Kim Kardashian in All’s fair in the comments. Thanks so much.
Kim Kardashian is keeping up with negative reviews of “All’s Fair.” The reality star poked fun at critics eviscerating her new legal drama, “All’s Fair,” as many dubbed the Hulu series “tacky” and “tasteless.” The backlash didn’t seem to shake her, but she took another blow recently when she announced she did not pass the State Bar of California. Despite the set backs, Kim remains an “it girl” like her fellow actor Sydney Sweeney, who is lighting up the red carpets recently. In this week’s Yap Session Page Six’s Brian Faas, Brianna Dunkers-Brown, Ashlee McGeehan, and Malik Cleveland are breaking down the hottest topics this week including the major surprises and subs from the 2026 Grammy nominations.
