While she was posing for pictures at the Season 5 premiere of Stranger Things in London, the paparazzo shouted at Millie, “Smile!”

Reacting to the clip, loads of internet users applauded Millie for standing firm with the photographer. “You fucking tell him,” read one popular Reddit comment, while someone else said, “I love to see young women empowered to stand up for themselves.”

“Men will never understand why this is not OK. Not on the street to a random woman nor on the red carpet to a celebrity,” another user wrote.
Amid the discourse, several people mentioned Chappell Roan, who has gone viral multiple times for yelling at invasive photographers at events.

“I cheered for Chappell and I’ll cheer for Millie, too. TELL EM, GIRLS,” one comment said, while another user echoed, “I love the Chappell Roan effect.”
“I’m very much here for celebs, especially women, telling paps off like this. I love that Chappell has apparently scared them into submission, and hope more celebs start to tell them off too. Your job is to take a fucking picture, not yell at, belittle, or generally be rude to women when you think they can’t snap back at you,” someone else agreed.
At the same time, some people argued that the paparazzo’s comment “wasn’t a big deal.” One user said, “It’s a photographer asking someone to smile who was posing on the red carpet. If she were almost anywhere else, it would be shitty, but this is nothing,” while another echoed, “Photographers give direction during photo shoots. It’s their job. At the same time, red carpets are crazy with tons of people shouting. I bet she’s just sick of it.”
