Sarah Ferguson is said to be moving overseas while Andrew prepares to settle on the Sandringham estate – a move that, according to a royal expert, could reveal a great deal about the true state of their relationship.

As Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson prepare for their expected departure from Royal Lodge, speculation is growing over where the former Duchess will settle next, with Andrew reportedly set to move into a property on the Sandringham estate early next year.

Fresh rumours suggest that Sarah is set to move to Portugal, where her daughter Princess Eugenie and son-in-law Jack Brooksbank spend part of their time at a £3.6 million oceanfront mansion. The couple purchased the luxury residence at the Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club resort in Melides in May 2022, where Jack also works.

With a move abroad now looking increasingly likely for Fergie, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond suggests that the potential distance from her ex-husband may reveal a great deal about the current state of their relationship.

She said: “I am surprised that it seems Sarah and Andrew are now going their separate ways. I thought they were joined at the hip, even though no longer in a romantic relationship.

“Sarah has always been so fiercely loyal to Andrew, defending him even in the face of the most sordid allegations. Perhaps she no longer believes him, or perhaps Andrew now wants to be on his own.”

Following the controversy surrounding Andrew and Fergie’s alleged ties to Jeffery Epstein, scrutiny has intensified over the royal status and reputation of their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Although the sisters have never spoken publicly about the situation surrounding their parents, they are said to be supporting Andrew and Fergie behind close doors.

However, Jennie Bond suggests that Eugenie inviting her mother to stay at her home in Portugal is entirely unsurprising.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I don’t think many people would criticise a loving daughter for helping her mother. Whatever else you say about Sarah and, indeed Andrew, they have been good parents who have somehow created a very strong and unified household despite their divorce.”

As Fergie remains largely out of the public spotlight following the resurfacing of her email to Epstein, the royal commentator argues that relocating to Portugal could be a practical step for the former duchess, as her public image and reputation is seemingly beyond repair.

“A move to Portugal was something I always thought could be on the cards,” Jennie explains. “It seems so logical. A beautiful place, a loving daughter and space to call her own. Jack and Eugenie only live there part-time, so it could work out very well.”

While Andrew’s connection to convicted paedophile Jeffery Epstein has been making headlines for years, Fergie’s relationship with the disgraced financier was revealed recently.

In September, an email resurfaced from 2011 revealing that Fergie called Epstein a “supreme friend,” despite having publicly condemned him.

Both Fergie and Andrew are being forced to leave their lavish Royal Lodge residence amid the continuing fall out from their association with the latechild sex trafficker Epstein. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to his former pal Epstein’s crimes.
