Genoveva Casanova has won the trial that was held last September after the lawsuit she filed against 'Lecturas' for the photographs she published in which the Mexican businesswoman appeared with Federico of Denmark, walking through the streets of Madrid. The ex-wife of Cayetano MartÃnez de Irujo, and mother of his two children, will receive compensation of 175,000 euros from the magazine.
In the lawsuit, Casanova demanded a million euros from the magazine, arguing that his rights to privacy and his own image were violated. The photos were published in the November 2023 issue and were part of an exclusive report in which it was said that they had been seen walking through El Retiro Park with two escorts who followed them at a prudent distance.
In addition, it was claimed that the future monarch at that time had spent the night at the aristocrat's house: "Genoveva and Frederick of Denmark, together. The future king visited her in Madrid and slept in her apartment," they explained. "They got there by car, they entered the portal together and it was not until seven hours later that Queen Margarita's son left the house."
According to 'HELLO!' This Wednesday, the team that has led Genoveva's defense plans to request a review of the economic amount of the compensation since it is quite far from the million euros they initially requested. For its part, the magazine's defense plans to appeal the sentence, since they allege that the report was published within the framework of the right to information and the public interest.
