‘The Simpsons’ Suddenly Kills Off Longtime Character After 35 Seasons

    One character is saying goodbye to Springfield. And warning, spoilers ahead. The Simpsons killed off one of its longest running characters on episode 7 of the show’s 37th season. Springfield’s first church organist, Alice Glick. And the Lord sent forth a mighty tempest that thundered like, “Come on now, Alice. That’s a bit much.” Alice. [Music] Her death served as the catalyst for the rest of the episode titled Sashes to Sashes, which saw Alice leave her estate to Springfield Elementary to fund the school’s new music program. Surprisingly, this was Alice’s second death on The Simpsons, as the character was seemingly killed by a rogue robot seal during season 23 of the long-running cartoon, appearing afterwards as both alive and a ghost, depending on the needs of the episode. This time, however, executive producer Tim Long confirms that Alice has said goodbye for good, telling People in a November 18th statement, quote, “In a sense, Alice, the organist, will live forever through the beautiful music she made. But in another, more important sense, yep, she’s dead as a doornail.” The character first made her debut back in season 2 episode Three Men in a Comic Book, where she was originally voiced by Chloris Leechman and then later voiced by Tres McNeel.
