Black-tie was the dress code Kate Middleton adhered to in a Talbot Runhof dress with accessories from the British royal family vault and Jenny Packham for the Royal Variety Performance in London on Wednesday night.

The Princess of Wales, joined by her husband Prince William, clad in a tuxedo, wore a velvet green gown from the German fashion brand. The dress featured short sleeves with a sharp V-shaped neckline, a fitted silhouette and a flowing skirt.

Middleton continued the green color motif of her look with a pair of darker-toned pointed-toe pumps by Manolo Blahnik. While her striking velvet green gown certainly served as the focal point of her look, Middleton’s accessories added sparkle to her formal attire.

The British royal family member turned to longtime favorite designer Jenny Packham for her clutch, carrying the small silver Casa purse. Accentuating the shimmering silver elements of her look, the Princess of Wales styled a pair of statement earrings with historic significance.

Middleton wore the Greville Chandelier Earrings, a piece that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. Originally owned by Dame Margaret Greville and bequeathed to the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II later inherited the earrings from her mother and wore them on several high-profile royal engagements.

The earrings were crafted in the early 20th century with diamonds and platinum. The design is evocative of the Art Deco movement that was popularized in the 1920s and 1930s. Among the occasions for which Queen Elizabeth chose to wear the earrings, the long-reigning monarch’s visit to Washington, D.C. to meet President Gerald Ford is the most famous.

The Greville jewelry collection was also spotlighted on Tuesday night during the Diplomatic Corps reception at Windsor Castle. Queen Camilla wore the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara to accessorize her Fiona Clare ensemble. The tiara was previously worn by Princess Eugenie on her wedding day in October 2018.
