Duchess Meghan is slowly stepping back into the Hollywood spotlight on her own terms.
The Duchess of Sussex graced graces the cover of Harper’s BAZAAR’s December 2025/January 2026 Art Issue (on newsstands Dec. 2) and opened opens up about pursuing a life and career that feels true to her.
“There’s no such thing as perfect,” she told the magazine in the cover story interview. “I, too, get to make mistakes … there’s also not a lot of fun in trying to be perfect. So why try to do that if you want to have fun?”
In the past two months alone, Meghan has seemingly been having a lot of fun making her Paris Fashion Week debut, attending the World Series with husband Prince Harry to cheer on her home team, attending star-studded galas and rubbing elbows with Kris Jenner and the rest of the Kar-Jenner clan at the matriarch’s 70th birthday celebration in Los Angeles.
On Nov. 10, Netflix also revealed that on Dec. 3, the Duchess of Sussex’s anticipated holiday special, “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration,” will be released.
All things she might not have had the freedom to do had she not walked away from her royal duties with Prince Harry back in January 2020 (and officially stepping down on March 31, 2020).
“I like the community of work and the connection,” she said in the Harper’s BAZAAR interview about what being a working woman means to her. “I think a lot of it is in my DNA … when people start to see your work ethic and really understand how dedicated you are to things — how you are in one place, I believe, is how you are in other places. So for me, that’s how I show up when I do potlucks at my kids’ school, that’s how I show up when putting a party together for my friend who just had a baby, that’s how I show up in my business.”
Since abandoning a tumultuous royal life, the couple − who share son Prince Archie, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 4 − have taken control of their narrative, launching the nonprofit Archewell Foundation in 2020, signing and developing deals with Spotify and Netflix and while pursuing other endeavors.
But at the same time, Duchess Meghan knows when to gauge if she’s no longer bringing a sense of levity or having fun in the work she’s doing.
“I don’t like things that feel overly realized,” she said in the interview. “If you overwork the dough, it’s not going to rise. And sometimes I think the stress that people put on moments … they are so consumed in them that you lose the fun of why you are doing something.”
Meghan Markle opens up about her children, Archie and Lilibet
In terms of what she hopes her young children see when they see their mother working, Duchess Meghan said: “I hope they see the value of being brave … When you’re young, I think you are a little bit more fearless. As we get older, we lose some of that.”
Earlier this month, reports surfaced that she’d taken a small role in an upcoming movie titled “Close Personal Friends.” She is reportedly set to play herself in the Amazon MGM Studios project starring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding.
Duchess Meghan says Prince Harry ‘loves me so boldly, fully’
Duchess Meghan also opened up about Prince Harry and how he “loves me so boldly, fully.”
“No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to make sure that he has my back,” she said, adding that having him in her corner means “you have someone who just has this childlike wonder and playfulness. I was so drawn to that, and he brought that out in me. That’s translated into every part of our life. Even in business, I want us to play and have fun and explore and be creative.”
Meghan Markle, Serena Williams love ‘a good mimosa’
In the cover story, Serena Williams also spoke about her friendship with the businesswoman and how much fun they have together.
“We love a good mimosa,” the tennis legend said. “We could talk for a hundred hours, and it feels like 10 minutes go by, and it’s like we never stop smiling.”
Williams shared that the two met over a decade ago at a Super Bowl party and hit it off over their shared dry sense of humor. “I think that’s why we hit it off for no reason at this silly football thing,” she shared. “We were just like, ‘Why are we here? To meet you?’ Apparently, and we’ve been lifelong friends ever since.”
