I I I was a little surprised. Shane Mitchell is reacting to the backlash over her new skin care line for kids. During a November 19th appearance on Today with Jenna and friends, the Pretty Little Liars alum addresses the controversy her new brand Reie has received for featuring face masks formulated for kids aged three and up. In the interview, she admits, “I I I was a little surprised, but I think anything that involves kids, you know, there should be a conversation around it. I have a lot of questions, as I’m sure you both do, when anything involves our kids with what they eat and what they put on their skin. So, I didn’t think this would be anything different. The 38-year-old then shares that the inspiration behind the brand came from her six-year-old daughter Atlas and three-year-old daughter Rome. Wanting to copy mom while she did her own skin care routine, she explains, “Skin care starts from birth. You know, we moisturize, we soothe, we comfort their skin as newborns. This is the same thing. It’s just in a different format that’s more fun and I feel very age appropriate. After Jenna Bush Hager and her co-host asks whether the product reinforces harmful beauty standards at a young age, the mom of two explains how I see it. This is self-care and taking that moment. When my girls see me do this, that’s mommy’s time to give back to herself. For me, it really is a positive introduction into a healthy relationship with skinincare. [Music]
