Meghan Markle was blasted for her “stylised and performative” body language in the new trailer for her Christmas special on Netflix, where she appears to share a kiss with her husband, Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex made a cameo appearance in the trailer for the festive edition of his wife’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which was released just as the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Royal Variety Performance in London.

Harry has not yet featured in Meghan’s programme but appears briefly in the 65-second clip when he and the duchess share a kiss in a kitchen. Meghan said in the video: “I love the holiday season. It’s about finding time to connect with the people we love, embracing traditions, and making new ones.”

But her body language during her and Harry’s intimate moment was torn apart by a field expert, who said the kiss looked like a “box-ticking” exercise for the Duchess.

Body language specialist Judi James told the Express: “This kiss looks like something of a ‘box-ticking’ exercise from a woman who is seen skipping through her garden, clapping and smiling into mixing bowls to signal how she channels the magic of Christmas in the most idealistic way.

“The body language looks stylised and performative and this kiss with Harry appears to be a gesture of reward and praise for the fact that he has accepted a cameo role in this Meghan video.”

She added that Harry’s pose when mixing “some small blob of food in a bowl or maybe enjoying his breakfast” looks “rather awkward and self-conscious”.

Ms James continued: “He still wins a bestowed kiss from his ecstatic wife, though, who seems to be floating through this video on a bubble of festive goodwill and breathless excitement.

“Meghan stretches to kiss her surrendered-looking hubby with one hand around his neck and her own neck stretched and bared as she lands her lips on his in this expression of culinary-based love.”

The show, which sees Meghan offer hosting tips while she cooks with celebrity friends, was savaged by critics following its release in March.

A second series was released in August and the Christmas special will arrive on the streaming platform on December 3.

This will coincide with the King’s plans to host a state visit by the president of Germany between December 3 and 5.

Celebrity friends join Meghan once again in the forthcoming special, which sees the duchess trying out festive crafts, decorating and baking.
