Trying to explain a bit more for ppl who only saw the initial condemnation: Bolsonaro was sentenced to over 27 yrs in prison by Brazil's supreme court for plotting to throw a military coup over his defeat in the last presidential elections. There are still legal procedures happening with his defense trying to appeal, and he was in house arrest with an ankle monitor over it. However, it was detected he tried to tamper with the monitor (which he admitted to, today), and preventative prison was declared as he was deemed to be in risk of fleeing to a foreign embassy.
