Why Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey’s “Passionate” Kiss Was Cut From ‘Wicked: For Good’

It’s a poignant kiss wicked fans will never get to see. And just a warning, there are spoilers ahead. Wicked for good screenwriter Dana Fox revealing in an interview with Deadline, published November 21st, that a passionate kissing scene involving Ariana Grande’s Glenda the Good and Jonathan Bailey’s Fiero, was cut from the film so that audiences would have a more positive opinion of their characters ultimately parting ways. Dana saying the kiss was quote romantic and beautiful but a little too passionate and that seeing the kiss on screen made it too hard to watch Bailey’s Fiero run away with Cynthia Arivbo’s Alphaba recalling quote it was too real that he and Glenda were actually feeling something together and even though Glenda and Vero do not end up together in the end Dana believes there was a shared love between the two saying Vier does care about Glenda quote in a different way. Ultimately, Dana says the team was happy with the decision to leave the kiss out of the film, saying, quote, “Everything we cut, I felt we cut for exactly the right reasons. [Music]
