In honor of “Frozen’s” 12th anniversary, we’re celebrating with these throwback interviews.

never bothered me. Anyway, Elsa actually went through lots of uh incarnations and so when I came on, she was a little bit more of a villain. And then um as they started to flesh her out, she became more and more complicated and they realized that they like to find strike this balance between her being really powerful and strong and also having this tender vulnerability. And I love that because she’s um rich with fear and sacrifice for her sister and protecting her sister and yet finally she gets to embrace this thing inside of her she’s been hiding for so long. Conceal it. Don’t feel it. Don’t let it show. Just when you know you’re younger, you want to fit in. You don’t want to stand out. And I don’t understand where that comes from. But I I wish kids would know that that’s such a waste of so much energy trying to hide that thing that makes them different and extraordinary.
