Prince William may be a future king, but he is also remarkably similar to many people across the UK. Whether because of his love of football, his family-man ways, or his sense of humour, the Prince of Wales is, deep down, very relatable.
While he tends to keep his private life under wraps, the royal does sometimes reveal snippets of information about himself and his hobbies – and this week was no exception. During a visit to North Wales, William decided to tell members of the Colwyn Bay Blue Tits, a local cold water group, about what he had recently enjoyed doing. The 43-year-old revealed he tried cold water swimming in Scotland, believed to been during his annual summer stay at Balmoral Castle.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the Prince could be heard saying: “You feel great afterwards.
“I love it. I do a lot of yelling and screaming when I get in.”
It is believed he could have been inspired to take up the activity by his wife, Princess Catherine.
This is because the Princess of Wales has long been a fan of cold water swimming.
She said during an appearance on Mike Tindall’s The Good, The Bad and The Rugby Podcast in 2023: “Personally, I love swimming wherever I can.
“Cold swimming – the colder, the better. I absolutely love it.”
It is not known whether William and Catherine’s children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, share the same enthusiasm as their parents for the hobby, which is believed to have an array of good health benefits.
