King Charles strips Andrew of last royal title in stunning move: ‘His name shall be erased’

In a dramatic move that marks the latest chapter in a long-running royal saga, King Charles has officially stripped Prince Andrew of his remaining royal honors. On December 1st, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s membership in the prestigious Order of the Guarder was formally cancelled as announced in the Gazette, the United Kingdom’s official public record. The statement read, “The king has directed that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward Mountbatten Windsor to be a knight companion of the most noble order of the guarder shall be canceled and enulled and that his name shall be erased from the register of the said order. In addition, Andrew’s title as knight of the Grand Cross of the Royal Victoria Order was also enulled the same day, removing the last vestages of his official royal standing. This move follows October’s removal of his prince title and his eviction from the royal lodge. That decision came amid his long-standing association with the late Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and continued allegations of sexual misconduct. Buckingham Palace has previously stated his majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles, and honors of Prince Andrew. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. Andrew is expected to relocate to a private property on the Sandringham estate. His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who has also lost her Duchess of York title, is said to be making her own living arrangements. Their daughters, Princess Beatatrice and Princess Eugenie, however, will retain their royal titles. Public scrutiny of Andrew intensified following a widely criticized BBC interview in 2019 and has been compounded by the postumous release of Virginia Jrey’s memoir, Nobody’s Girl. Duffrey accused Andrew of sexual assault and alleged his involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring. Andrew has consistently denied these allegations, including claims surrounding a widely circulated photograph, though he did make a settlement payment in 2012. The stripping of Andrew’s titles represents the final blow in a saga that has seen the former Duke of York increasingly isolated from the royal family. King Charles and the royal household have emphasized that while Andrew continues to deny the allegations against him, their sympathies remain with the victims and survivors of abuse.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has officially lost his remaining royal honors, including his membership in the Order of the Garter and his Knight of the Grand Cross of the Royal Victoria Order. This follows his removal of the “Prince” title and eviction from the Royal Lodge amid longstanding controversies tied to Jeffrey Epstein. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has also been stripped of her Duchess of York title, though their daughters retain theirs.
