Speaking days after the release of the Duchess of Sussex’s and Netlflix’s Christmas episode, one PR expert has suggested that her projects may not be as “disastrous” as people may think due to one key thing. Since stepping down as a senior working member of the Royal Family, Meghan Markle, 44, has unveiled a host of projects, including podcasting and two series of a Netflix show – as well as one special recent episode dedicated to the festive season.
Meghan, who married Prince Harry in 2018, also launched her As Ever brand back in March. Speaking to the Express, PR expert Rhea Freeman said that the fact that Meghan continues shows that her projects may not be doing as terrible as we may think. She said: “We continually get told more and more about Meghan’s missteps and how disastrous her shows/projects are… and yet, she keeps going make them, so we have to assume that maybe, just maybe, it’s not as bad as many would like to believe!”
Discussing what Meghan and Prince Harry should be focused on, she added: “Personally, I feel that they should fully lean into the Hollywood side of life – embrace social media fully rather than just as and when it’s needed, and give people who want to like them a chance to get to know them better in a less edited way.
“Take inspiration from the successful reality stars of Hollywood- the Kardashians being a prime example – and learn some lessons there. I appreciate that for a long time the couple have asked for privacy, but their actions don’t echo this… I feel the best course of action would be to really lean into it as I feel that more opportunities – maybe even better headlines – could come from that in the long term.”
Meghan received a major boost last week after it emerged that the Netflix Christmas special of With Love, Meghan appeared to be doing well in the streaming service’s charts.
The episode, which was released on December 3, was ranked in the top 10 series on the streaming service on December 6. As of Saturday, the episode was ranked in eighth place.
Taking to Instagram on December 4, Meghan shared that she had collaborated with another brand to release a trio of chocolate bars.
After only being on sale for 24 hours, the chocolate bars sold out within an hour on the As Ever website. The milk chocolate bar, which sold out first in less than 30 minutes, is made with shortbread cookies and bee pollen. The dark chocolate bar, which was second to sell out, is made with raspberry spread and a sprinkle of sea salt.
The white chocolate bar, which was the last to sell out, is treated with flower sprinkles and hemp hearts. The chocolate was limited to two bars per buyer, and bars were priced at £9 [$12] each.
