The Duchess of Sussex has made a shocking revelation about her forthcoming ventures with Prince Harry, mere hours before her father-in-law is set to broadcast his own heartfelt address on television. Meghan has endured a turbulent fortnight, as her recent Netflix Christmas programme was broadcast shortly before her alienated father Thomas Markle dominated global headlines due to his abrupt health deterioration.

Following her dad’s emergency operation to amputate his leg, it subsequently transpired that Meghan had contacted her father through a heartfelt written correspondence. Now, following a scathing statement regarding the undeniably agonising situation, Meghan has returned to Instagram with updates on her newest professional endeavour.

She disclosed that both she and husband Harry are serving as executive producers on a fresh documentary centring on Girl Scouts and their biscuit sales. The film is scheduled for screening at the Sundance Film Festival.

The documentary, helmed by director Alysa Nahmias, chronicles “four tenacious girls (who) strive to be a top-selling ‘Cookie Queen’, navigating an 800 million dollar business in which childhood and ambition collide”, according to the festival programme. Revealing the project on social media, Meghan expressed she holds a “personal affinity” for the film, having been a Girl Scout herself, describing the opportunity as “irresistible”, reports the Mirror.

She stated: “As a former girl scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary.

“When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in. The creative point of view, the edgy yet humanising tone and tenor of the directing, and the glimpse behind-the-scenes into such a nostalgic and also modern tradition of girl scout cookie season are absolutely irresistible.”

She shared the announcement alongside a previously unseen photograph featuring herself as a youngster with her mother, Doria.

The image captures a young Meghan with one arm around a friend whilst grasping her mum’s arm with the other, as they struck a pose with fellow Girl Scouts in LA.

The social media announcement coincided with news that Charles has recorded a ‘personal message’ regarding his cancer diagnosis and recovery, set to air in an unprecedented broadcast today.

The pre-recorded footage forms part of the Stand Up To Cancer 2025 campaign, a collaborative effort between Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.

Launched on 5th December, the week-long initiative is designed to highlight the crucial role of early diagnosis and to raise funds for cancer research, while offering support to those affected by the disease.

The King’s message will be featured in Channel 4’s prime-time evening schedule, airing at 8pm, just prior to a unique live broadcast from a cancer clinic at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, hosted by Davina McCall.

In his address, The King will underscore the significance of cancer screening programmes for facilitating early detection, and share insights from his own journey towards recovery.

The message was recorded during the final week of November, in the Morning Room at Clarence House.
