It’s one of the highlights of the royal family’s calendar, and this year’s annual Christmas lunch, hosted by King Charles, was no exception. Each year, the monarch invites the wider Windsor clan for an intimate celebration behind closed doors, before he or she heads to Sandringham for the main event; it’s a rare opportunity for the whole Firm to gather and catch up in private.

This year, King Charles was joined by more than a dozen members of the family, from Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who arrived with their three children in tow after skipping last year’s festivities. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie beamed as they drove to Buckingham Palace together, with Beatrice behind the wheel; their disgraced father, meanwhile, was not issued with an invitation, and was spotted riding alone in the grounds of Windsor Great Park that morning.

More distant branches of the royal family were also amply represented, with the recently widowed Duke of Kent arriving alongside his daughter-in-law, Sylvana Tomaselli and her husband, George Windsor, the Earl of St Andrews. Although the couple have reportedly separated, they appeared to be on good terms, and brought their three children with them for the celebration: Lady Marina Charlotte Windsor, Lady Amelia Windsor and Edward Windsor, Lord Downpatrick.
