Survivor 49’s Sophi Balerdi reveals shocking intel she got from the jury
I was surprised at how well I was doing and how well received my answers were to the jury. Um, I knew I had good relationships with them and I knew that my game because of my premerge was respected. Like the underdog story was really powerful and um, I was just looking for that last flashy thing to do and that’s what my dilemma was with the knowledge is power taking Stevens or taking Rizzo’s Idol um, and what to do. But uh ultimately I didn’t feel super confident because sitting next to someone who had won four immunities, one fire. I’m a very self-aware person. I’m not going to sit there and be like, I have this in the bag, you know? So I went in there thinking it was going to be an uphill battle. And it was. But dude, I was told by several jury members after the fact that they were 5050 between me and Savannah, that if Rizzo won fire, I would have won. And even before Jeff read the votes, Savannah turned to me and she goes, “You just won the game.” And I was like, “What?” So when I kept seeing my name being read, I was like, “Wait, I’m getting votes and like I might win this thing. That’s crazy.” So >> damn. So if that fire making goes a different way, you end up potentially being the winner according to what the jury told you. >> That’s that’s what they told me. And they told me that like that night. It wasn’t like watching it back, they changed their mind or whatever. Like I got feedback soon after that. So I don’t know. I think I would have stood a chance because I I would have had an immunity win over Rizzo. We worked together in a lot of the votes. I could have had I feel like I could have claimed a lot of the moves that we did. Um but whatever. It is what it is. You know, it could have gone either way. And it’s always going to be a shoulda, could have, would have or what if game if you don’t win Survivor. So, I’m proud of myself and how things turned out. >> Yeah. Did you consider putting yourself into fire to knock Savannah out or No. >> Yes, I did. That was my thing. >> They didn’t show that. I don’t think >> I know. I Well, I actually didn’t tell the producers because I I didn’t tell them what I was I didn’t tell anybody what I was really thinking. I wanted to really sit and think about it and I did that entire day. I sat for hours by myself and I thought about it. Um it was only two options, Sav and Rizzo or me and Sav. And I was strongly considering it because again, I knew that if the chance was that Sav won fire, it was probably it for me. >> Uh but I did ultimately gamble with like if Rizzo wins it, I’m probably going to win. Uh but um I don’t know. I think I just convinced myself that I deserved to sit in those final three seats because of everything I had gone through in the game. I feel like if you win final immunity, you should sit at the final three. It would have been badass. And had I beat her in fire, I probably would have won too. There was paths there to winning. But um again, what ifs, should have, could have, would have. Uh I’m proud of myself, you know.
Sophi Balerdi came so close to winning “Survivor 49.”
At least, that’s what the jury told her after the final tribal council.
The 27-year-old entrepreneur exclusively told The Post that she learned the jury nearly voted for her to win over Savannah Louie — and that she definitely would’ve beaten Rizo Velovic had he made it to the final three instead of Louie.
