The child actor turned rockstar is spreading Christmas cheer to die-hard How the Grinch Stole Christmas fans. Taylor Momsen is embodying her well-known character of Cindy Lou Who by unearthing her original movie costume for a photoshoot.
Momsen posted a video on her Instagram showing her squeezing into one of her character’s original costume dresses from the 2000s movie. Many fans can recall the red and green picnic dress that came with its own set of fake plates and food attached to the skirt.
Despite it being 25 years since the Christmas movie was filmed, Momsen still managed to fit into it with some needed adjustments. The video revealed that the dress was later modified by turning the puffy sleeves and neckline into a strapless dress. Adorned in the same red cape, fake snow, and her combat boots, Momsen posed for holiday photos.
“Yes…that is my real Cindy costume from the Grinch movie 25 years later…it still (kind of) fits. What a surreal holiday season,” she captioned the video.
Since the holiday movie, Momsen went on to star in Gossip Girl before leaving acting behind to focus on her music career as the frontwoman for The Pretty Reckless. She recently reunited with her Grinch co-star Jim Carrey, who she said was “always very kind” and took care of her on set.
Fans are over the moon seeing Momsen embrace one of her most iconic childhood roles, with one fan commenting, “I love that you’re fully embracing this!”
“Life takes some crazy full circle turns,” said one fan.
Another added, “Yep I love both sides of you. Got to see you in Nashville and it was great. Going to see you open for AC/DC again in Vegas. And I like how you’re embracing Christmas and your wonderful contribution to the holiday spirit. You rock!”
