A celebrity stylist who has counted the likes of Liz Hurley, Dame Joan Collins and Prince William as his clients has talked about what the future King was like to work for.

Dean Aslett has teamed up with several famous individuals in his multi-year career, but has recently opened up about what it was like to work for the future King.

He said that when he took William, now 43, around Selfridges that the prince was very normal in what he wanted to buy, including a special purchase for his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Dean told the Daily Mail his royal experience all started with a phone call and then it went from there.

He recalled to the publication: “It started with a call from Special Branch. It was all very cloak and dagger. They called my home number I suppose to check I wasn’t a member of the IRA.”

Dean went on to confess that he couldn’t remember everything that William had bought, apart from a Doctor Who box set for the late Queen, “because it was all so ordinary”.

He continued: “There was nothing bling about anything William wanted. It was DVDs, fragrances, little trinkets. I was tickled by that because I was a Doctor Who fan, too. But you don’t think of The Queen watching it.”

This isn’t the first slightly more intimate side of William’s personality to be shown to the public, after he was interviewed by Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy on the latter’s ‘The Reluctant Traveler’ show earlier this year.

In an interview with the American actor, the senior royal offered a glimpse into what the future of the monarchy could look like.

He said: “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good, and I embrace that, I enjoy that change.

“I don’t fear it, that’s the bit that excites me, the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical, but changes that I think need to happen.”

Whilst William has reportedly been thinking a little about the transformation he might like to make to the monarchy in the future, other experts have also been ruminating about what his reign may entail.

Speaking to Channel 5’s documentary ‘William and the King: Like Father, Like Son’, Vanity Fair’s Kate Nicholl talked about how the prince’s interactions with Donald Trump were part of his training.

She said: “[King Charles] wouldn’t have William handling these important meetings, with Trump, Macron, or other world leaders, if Charles didn’t believe he was absolutely capable. William has proven himself to be a very capable international statesman.

“I asked an aide if William is ready should his time as King come sooner than expected. Their response was immediate. This person has known William for decades and said, ‘He’s absolutely ready’.”
