Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly lost another member of their staff.
James Holt, who served as the executive director of Archewell Foundation — recently renamed Archewell Philanthropies — since 2021, revealed he was leaving in a statement shared with People on Monday, December 29.
“After five incredible years in Los Angeles, it’s time for my family to return to London,” his statement read in part. “When I pass the baton to the team leading Archewell Philanthropies in the coming months, I’ll do so with immense pride and optimism for what lies ahead.”
“I’ll miss my colleagues deeply, and I’m grateful to Harry and Meghan for everything they’ve done — for me, and for the countless people we’ve worked to support,” he noted.

As for how the Sussexes feel, they shared a statement with People about Holt’s departure.
“His enthusiasm and talent in overseeing our philanthropic endeavours have been extraordinary,” the couple said of Holt. “As James moves his young family back to the UK, we are proud that he will continue to guide various humanitarian trips for us overseas through Archewell Philanthropies.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Spare author, 41, and the As Ever founder, 44, told the outlet, “James Holt will remain a senior philanthropic advisor for the couple and Archewell Philanthropies, supporting their humanitarian trips overseas in 2026.”
Prior to working at Archewell, Holt served as the couple’s Head of Engagement and Communications from 2019 to 2021.

The latest staffing change comes a few days after Harry and Meghan’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, announced she was stepping down from her position after less than a year on the job.
As Star previously reported, the Daily Mail claimed in an article published on Sunday, December 21, that three staffers had been let go as the charity “restructures.” However, a spokesperson for the couple denied changes to their staffing, telling the outlet that “currently, the same full team remains in place.”
The next day, in a statement shared with People, a spokesperson told the publication, “The move toward a fiscal sponsor operating model does mean that some staff redundancies are inevitable, particularly with junior admin roles.”
