“Beverly Hills, 90210” star Ian Ziering is being sued following his altercation with a minibike group two years ago.
Ziering was the apparent victim of a daylight brawl involving multiple mini-motorcycle riders on Los Angeles’ Hollywood Boulevard on New Year’s Eve 2023.
The following May, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed in a statement that an investigation into a physical altercation between Ziering and four to five members of a minibike group led to the arrest of suspect Jacob Esteban Hernandez, among others. Now, Hernandez is suing Ziering for battery, assault and malicious prosecution.
The man – who was arrested for felony vandalism – claims Ziering was the aggressor during the confrontation, saying the actor exited his vehicle in Hollywood traffic and shoved Hernandez and a female friend unprovoked, causing him to fall and sustain physical and emotional injuries. He alleges that the “Guiding Light” alum “used this celebrity status and privilege to go to the media” and “tell lies to the public,” causing his wrongful arrest and emotional distress.
Hernandez “is in a constant state of paranoia that the police are coming for him – given the apparent power the rich celebrity seemed to wield,” according to the lawsuit.

Per the complaint, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office decided not to pursue a criminal case against Hernandez. USA TODAY has reached out to the LA district attorney’s office for more information.
Ian Ziering fight video captured tense moment
The violent incident involving the “Sharknado” star was captured on video shared by TMZ, where he was seen being quickly surrounded by as many as four helmeted riders who threw punches and kicks before he sprinted across the street. One attacker brandished a motorcycle helmet as a weapon and chased Ziering onto the sidewalk.
According to the LAPD, the confrontation between Ziering and one of the mini-motorcycle riders began “over possible damage” to the actor’s car after the riders “were driving recklessly.”
