As we enter 2026, Express readers have voted in an overwhelming majority that Prince Harry should not reunite with the Royal Family this year. The question was posed to readers, ‘Should Harry reunite with his family this year?’. 90% of readers (5,307 votes) think Prince Harry should not reunite with his family, whereas 8 % believe Prince Harry should see his family this year. A total of 2 % of readers were unsure if the reunion should occur.

In September 2024, Prince Harry reunited with his dad, King Charles, on a visit to his home country that also saw him carry out a series of work commitments. The reunion was their first meeting since February 2024, after the King revealed his cancer diagnosis.

The Duke of Sussex has not been on speaking terms with his brother, Prince William, for several years, having only spent time in the same environment for a few family events, such as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

Unlike Harry, who has visited the UK on multiple occasions since stepping down as a working royal in 2020, Meghan and their children – six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet – have not visited the UK since 2022.

Later this month, there will be a decision on whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle receive taxpayer-funded police protection when they visit the UK, resulting in Harry and Meghan and their children potentially visiting the UK if the outcome is successful.

Despite the duke losing his High Court appeal in May, a new risk assessment is currently under way.

It comes after the Duke wrote privately to the Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, requesting a full security risk assessment, according to The Guardian.

According to the outlet, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) will request that its risk management board reassess the threat level for the first time since 2020, with an outcome expected this month.

Prince Harry’s security in the UK is currently provided on a case-by-case basis. This arrangement, decided by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) after he stepped back as a working royal in 2020, means he does not receive automatic, high-level protection.
